4BB8510C-020D-49C7-A966-DD66303F8724.jpeg I’m an odd one, it’s true. I should write a book, plenty of weird and wonderful tales to tell.
This one came up under a search for my maiden name.
A nice family photo, that’s me in the corduroy velvet knickerbockers (it was 1982) on the far left. Taken at Sydney Airport. Yes, my Dad, the bearded fellow, was the first Australian ever held hostage on a hijacked airplane. He was one of the ones “not” released for 3 days (crazy hijacker estranged from his wife) - women, children and men over 50 were allowed off - mind you Dad wasn’t too worried about the guy with explosives literally taped to his belt. As Dad said “sure, he’ll blow the arse end off the plane but I’m down the pointy end”. That’s Aussie “whatever” attitude for you! He was worried more about sharp shooters storming the plane. Luckily it didn’t come to that. So yeah, we had our 10 minutes of fame!

What a fabulous but terrifying story! And you are a beauty!

I have to assume that’s your sister in the middle? I cannot take my eyes off her jumper. I mean, wow. That is a SERIOUS jumper!

I do think you should write a book! I love your stories even those this one could have had a terrible ending!

Yikes, not a good way to get your 10 minutes. Glad everything worked out okay and hey, at least you got a nice family photo of it!

Crazy story! You look gorgeous!

Oh my gosh how scary Bron. . Your dad sounds like he has a great sense of humor which may have gotten him through the ordeal. You look beautiful in the picture. What a lovely picture of your family.

Yes, my sister. And my mum knitted that jumper.

I had plenty similar, as my mum was & still is an avid knitter! She once knitted the most beautiful baby pink bat-winged cardigan from mohair. I wore it to see Wham at Wembley Stadium for my 11th Birthday treat. I bloody LOVED that cardigan

How very scary for your family. So glad it turned out well for you! I must say, you have had an interesting life!
A book may be in order! Were you the one we told to write a child's book about when you were young and used
to dream of diamonds (or something like that). I know it was an Aussie but dont remember if it was you. If so,
you've got a lot of writing to do!

I had velvet knickerbockers too! I loved the 80’s!
