Birthstones inside band of engagement ring?

Just wondering if you guy have any thoughts on putting out birthstones on the inside bottom part of the ring? I am looking at a custom ring similar to this. Our stones are peridot and emerald. Unique or tacky?

I think that could be a very unique touch to the ring.. Its not something everyone would see, but both of you would know they are there and would be special to the both of you.

I agree and they said it would only be $100 to do. Unfortunately both our stones are green so not as cool as a ruby and sapphire.

One thing that I'd like to know before getting that done would be whether they collect gunk/grime and how big of an issue that is. I'm a little on the type A side of things with cleaning my rings, so it would probably drive me crazy to know that they are constantly dirty under there.

I have a pink sapphire inside my 5 Stone ring and it does not seem to collect gunk.

somebody just asked VC to do this for them, and i believe he said that an emerald is too soft to do as a surprise stone. I also suspect they might say an peridot is too

I kind of like the date of the engagement engraved better. I think the stones would stay dirty all the time.
