Birthday Surprise from DH - how to set?

I’m a tricky one to buy for. I have a lot of jewellery and I like BIG.
DH is actively discouraged from buying me presents (other than flowers) so I was very surprised to receive this gem today.
I’m thinking a ring, should I do “north/ south” or “east/ west”?
Either way it will be quite a statement ring.
