Hi

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am trying to get as much information and pictures of a specific setting from birks so I can get someone to replicate it as best as possible. The ring is called the SOLITAIRE DIAMOND PAVE ENGAGEMENT RING, It has a donut shape which holds the main diamond in place. The picture from birks is at this link

http://www.birks.com/index.asp?SecID=64&CatID=712&LangID=1&SKU=914122

I have managed to get some other pictures but they are pretty fuzzy. I was wondering if anyone had any good pictures or other information that could help me such as the thickness of the band and the size of the diamonds on the band.

Thanks

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I don''t have any info for you, but I''ll give you a bump which might cause someone who does, to see this.

If you don''t get any responses, just call the store and ask them what it is you want to know.

I personally don''t like the boxiness of the design. The shank is squared off and the bead work holding the small diamonds looks havy handed. I would think the side diamonds run from .02ct to .04ct in size and that the shank for most size center diamonds is 2.7 to 3.0mm in width. A .02ct diamond is about 1.7mm and a .04ct diamond is about 2.1mm. WIth metal needed on each side, we get the estimates I gave you above.

The center head looks as if it has some sort of diamond set, gallery or open work filigree design on the sides. Again, the four center prongs look boxy, but possibly that''s exactly what you want.

The photo is good enough for a jeweler to make the shank or wedding ring easily enough. The only issue is getting more of a side image so the center setting can be better matched. There are several varieties of center setting which have filigree or gallery design without small diamonds. A good jeweler can make the shank less square and potentially more attractive easily enough.

Hi, Thank you very much for the information. I have actually tried very hard to get information about it at the store, but the sales people are very stupid or are trained not to say a word about it. I actually found a side profile, this is the best I can find, other than some fuzzy pics I have.

Under the 4 prongs appears to be a bead set circle paved with diamond likely to be about .01ct to about .015ct in size each. It would be easy enough for someone to make a similar ring. I just think a good jeweler will offer even a slicker design alternative based on the details you want to have in the ring.

I do have what your looking for

the prongs look really big on the setting. have you looked at Ritani? they make beautiful pave settings and you could save yourself the trouble of going custom.

Hi Phil

Could you post pictures of what you have?

Shawn

I,ll take a picture and post it, btw where are you from
