I want to hear some fun things during this time of doom and gloom. Please share the biggest surprise you’ve ever pulled off, like a surprise party, engagement, setting up friends, etc

This was for my ex-husband's 40th birthday. He was just "in love" with this stupid (and stupidly expensive) toilet bowl brush in it's own shiny silver container from Restoration Hardware (don't ask...) but wouldn't buy it because of the $$$. (Believe me, we had plenty, but it was the principle of the thing for him). Every time we went to RH he'd veer over to the bathroom section and fondle the damn thing.

Bill was also a serious foodie. We had a restaurant here in Chicago called Charlie Trotter's. It was $500/head even back then, and more if you wanted wine with dinner. (And trust me, we DID want wine with dinner!)

A friend of ours got engaged and I told Bill the engagement party was at Trotter's. They were chi chi people so this was totally plausible. He was super excited because he'd been dying to go there. I also told him I got the happy couple a vase off of their registry. (He doesn't know a thing about registries or when you have one--or when you don't.) That night we went to Trotter's... and were seated at a table for two for his birthday dinner. He was completely floored. He was also totally surprised when he opened the "vase" LOL.

My family found out about my Masters degree when we walked into the building hosting the graduation ceremony 'to pop to the toilet' :)

My parents live in Taiwan, and last year I happened to have a business trip to Southeast Asia around my mom’s 70th birthday, so I planned a surprise 3 day layover in Taiwan and conspired with my cousin to plan a family get together which was actually my mom’s surprise birthday lunch. When I showed up at their apartment building, their security guard called my parents and told them a young lady was here to see my dad....she was so MAD ! She kept asking who the young lady was.....and then the security guard told me mom: She says she is your husband’s daughter.... my mom almost lost it, thought my dad had an illegitimate daughter with someone in Taiwan! When I was finally let upstairs by the security guard, and mom opened the door to their apartment, the surprise and RELIEF was priceless!

A surprise 50th wedding anniversary for my parents. We held it at The Water Club and it was just the immediate family and it was perfect. And they were very surprised.

Cool story girl!

Your Mother aged 10 years in 10 minutes! I'll bet this story gets repeated often!

I gave my parents a surprise party for their 40th anniversary. I invited about 50 people, that included friends, family, and anyone from their wedding party. It ended up being a wonderful party, and was a total surprise. The only problem was my poor mom was very hurt when people started to avoid her calls about two weeks before the event. She couldn't understand what the problem was. Well, the problem was no one wanted to slip and ruin the surprise. Thankfully all went well.

My husband pulled the biggest surprise on me. I was staying with him in London and I got woken up at 5am! He then proceeded to hand me a series of envelopes containing clues that led us to the Eurostar terminal where he presented tickets to Paris. I had no clue what was going on!
He proposed later that day at the top of the Eiffel Tower!

We surprised my parents with a party for their 30th wedding anniversary- all their friends and extended family. Huge party at a fancy restaurant nearby. It was the BEST! They thought we were just going out for a quiet family dinner... The look on their faces was gold & Mum almost cried with joy. :kiss2:

My (ex)husband also surprised me with my sister & her husband visiting us for the long weekend. We were posted a long way from home so didn’t see my family much. One day he took me out for dinner in Melbourne and they just turned up! I cried, was so happy to see her.
