Biggest diamond ring you feel comfortable wearing...

HI:

I was in my milieu when I had my 5 carat (6.25 ctw). :lol-2::P2Just right on my hand! I did not suffer with DSS. I tried on larger fancy shapes (cushion, asscher, 7, 10 carats) but I found them too large, including the MRB's over 3 carats seemed "big" to me". I know makes no sense.

I have no diamonds now, and am OK with it! (I know makes no sense....)

cheers--Sharon

Max 3 ct or just under. I have long size 8 fingers but even 3 ct looks like a doorknob on me.

Sorry to hear. Did you sell them? :(

I've tried on a well-cut 2.5 carat MRB and thought to myself, "Huh. I could go bigger," if only because I'd love to stare at a stone that big! :lol-2:

As far as actually wearing, though? I'm still too young or self-conscious or something...I think I'd feel uncomfortable wearing anything larger than about 7mm/1.5 carats at this point in my life. My ring size is 4.75, so that gives pretty solid coverage and doesn't seem too outlandish for being 30.

(There's always time to grow into bigger stones, though )

After having my 3ct I think the most I would be comfortable with would be a 4ct MRB

I am glad I'm not alone. I have a 1.8 ct solitaire for my ering and in certain light I get a bit of DSS...and in others I can't figure out where my finger is.

In an ideal world I would probably end up putting my ering in a pendant one day and upgrading until I own a 2.8 - 3.2 ct CBI for my everyday ering. :kiss2:

Granted one of my dream diamonds is a .5ct super ideal that I may (barring my vrother asking for it) inherit one day from my mother but for the sentimental reasons.

ETA: I have size 4.5 fingers so my ideal diamond will probably never be too huge...but if money were no option I guess the sky IS the limit

I have a 2.5 mrb now. I thought it would be as big as I would ever go. Haha, dreaming of an upgrade in a few years! 3-3.25, but it would be out of the size of my social circle. Well, 2.5 is already out but I figure I am in my 40s, so who cares???

If money were no object, sky's the limit. As DH says "you'll only be happy with a doornob size.":lol-2:

@baby monster You my dear, are a true Pricescoper LOLOLOL!!!!

Our husbands would get along great. Mine tells me all the time that for me there is no size limit. After any diamond is on my finger for a week, I want larger.

@missy and I tried on a few 7 and 8 carat diamonds. They didn't look unwearable! In fact we probably could have gotten used to them in less than an hour.

I'm with the minority here, but I'd say for a solitaire maybe 2cts. Someone else said: I prefer to forget I'm wearing rings, and want them low profile. Add to this that I wear a Cartier Trinity as my fidget on my left hand, a solitaire would look weird (IMO) on my right.

Now if we are talking total carat weight, I think I could rock the Aurora Band (someone here had one and I <3 it!) in the 3+ total carat weight. Again, I'm more low maintenance in that I need jewelry that is nearly indestructible. ;)

I'd buy more variety of cuts - probably something between 5 and 12 carats in different shapes maybe a super Ideal in a big size and an emerald cut or Antique Asscher in a large size. Maybe another big oval or a pear. I already wear a old 5.34 OEC to the supermarket and don't really think twice about it. People look at it probably assume it's fake and mostly don't give it a second glance, so I could wear something bigger again and anyone that doesn't know me would assume it wasn't real.

I have an almost-10mm CZ (equivalent to approximately 2.8 carats) and I think it's a little much. The CZ provides almost edge-to-edge finger coverage and it's fun to wear sometimes because it's only costume, but if it were a real diamond I think I'd feel a little silly wearing it. To my surprise, I also don't think it looks elegant and pretty when I imagine it as a real diamond. It's just too big. So as much as I want to say 3ct, in reality 2ct is probably my limit.

Oooooooo 12 carats sounds nice.... :mrgreen2: I wear my 5 ct everywhere too, even skiing, LOL. Never had a single comment.. I keep telling my DH that for our 20 year anniversary, I need a 20 ct diamond...

I disappoint myself, as I only feel comfortable wearing up to about 7.5mm for every day. Anything larger seems to get in the way.
But
I love looking at the big 'uns on everyone else!

I don't think I'd go over 2.5 cts in a round stone. I'd totally try something bigger in a fancy cut though. Something extremely unaffordable probably as I've never even tried on anything like that. Emerald, asscher, maybe even a giant heart shape with a halo because I'm the only one on here that loves hearts probably, lol.
