I am currently in the process of purchasing an engagement ring and afraid of making the wrong decision. After doing research, I''ve learned that cut is key. I''ve planning on spending 10k-13k on the stone. Is anyone available to provide some pointers?
Thanks. Wow! Nice size but how about the color and clarity? Is that impressive? Any thoughts on cut for this? I always read to think cut first? Do you think I could find a similar size with higher quality in color and clarity?
The whiteflash stone that Jelly linked to you scores 1.1 on the HCA whil the GOG stone scores 0.6. BOTH are excellent choices and have excellent cuts to them. That being said, the color shouldn''t be much of an issue unless you are color sensitive. You would have to double-check with the vendors of each respective diamond, but I would venture to guess they are both eye-clean.
Thanks. I live in Manhattan. How do you think these 2 would compare to something that I would find in the diamond district, which I will be visiting on Monday. I''m aiming to wrap my purchase up on Tuesday.
Good Old Gold is in Massapequa Park out on the island. I would do go there in person if it wasn''t a 1000 miles for me to get there. As far as what you are going to find in other stores, you may find similar quality, but I don''t think they will be close on price. I could be wrong, but GOG would be my first stop.
Welcome! Unless you know for sure your GF is happy with a warmer looking stone, I would probably stay in the near colourless range of GHI colours. K''s can be very nice stones (check our arjunajane''s stunning little number from GOG), however, I am colour sensitive and would not want to drop below a G. It''s just about personal preference.
If, however your GF is a size girl, then the ACA from Whiteflash looks like a stunning stone! Remember, the larger you go, the more the colour will show.
When you have decided on your size/colour range, then an easy way to pick a great stone is to look for an ACA from Whiteflash or a H&A from GOG, they are handpicked to be great stones, so you can''t go wrong.
Thanks much honey! I think I''m a bit color sensitive. I think I''m more happy getting the best cut and color for my budget than size (particularly if it meets 1.5k size). Any other thoughts?
With PS discount (don''t forget to ask, these will come in at budget), make sure to check if the SI1 is eyeclean, they are both new stock so will have to wait for pics, but they are ACAs so will be stunning!!!
Ok, that gives you a few options. Let me know if you need more ideas, cheaper, more expensive etc. Don''t forget to ask the vendors if the SIs are eyeclean, and for the PS discount.
Which type of setting are you looking at? We can help with that too!!!
All of those GOG choices should be gorgeous. If you can go visit Jonathan and staff in person, you should. I have bought 2 diamonds from him (I''m in Texas) and I have been extremely pleased with both.
