I've been searching since 2006. Seriously, that long. But I finally own The Big Gaudy Platinum Cocktail Ring Mounting. And just in time for the holidays.

Thanks. It''s slanted perfectly for a RHR but I couldn''t take a pic that way. :-)

Holy moly that is huge and quite the attention grabber. I''m glad you finally found it.

Wowza! Do you have a stone for the centre yet?

I think it would be fun as a middle finger ring with a vibrant colored stone showcasing the center.. good for you!
I like this idea too!

I haven't decided. I'd like to take this to the jeweler and have them stick it in the acid a while. The rounds are lively but the baguettes are not doing much. I have a couple of diamonds that might work. But I think any diamond that goes in this has to really be a star performer to stand out and not be swallowed up by the mounting, lol. A cornflower blue sapphire would be stunning, though. I just had not planned on spending any more money this year, so it might sit in the safe a while if I decide that the diamonds I already own aren't "it." It's a great mounting, though. I keep telling the jewelers (and PS vendors

) that someone should be making more cocktail settings like this. But the manufacturers just concentrate on e-rings.

I wonder if the setting is more suitable for a colored stone than diamond. I would imagine that a colored stone would stand out quite a bit, whereas a diamond, no matter the cut, would disappear in the busy, blingy melees/baguettes.

If you decise to mount it with a colored gem, make siure the cut is ideal top cut.

Are you crazy!?That mounting is a real eye grabber and should spend NO time in the safty deposit box!Run to the nearest jeweler(the one you purchased the ring from)and have a sapphire colored cubic zircoinia set in the center so you dont waste any time wearing and enjoying your new bling!I would have told the jeweler that a condition of buying the ring is that they would have to set a CZ in the ring saving you the cost of setting and the stone(of course you know that a carat CZ only runs 3-5 bucks or so to the jeweler)Dont wait....it would be a shame to let the holidays slip by without wearing you new Christmas bling ring!

Very cool ring. I think it would look best with a colored stone!

I''m glad you won''t let these die - I always kind of liked them hehe :) Congrats!!

I like it!!!! And I''d probably wear it to dinner tonight if I had it. And it had a center stone. I think it''s pretty cool.

:D

Jewelerman, I like the way you think!

HVVS, that is a grand setting! I can''t wait to see what you set in it. I like the idea of a sapphire, but I also like the idea of something even more vivid - a nice tsavorite or a chrome diopside, maybe?

I am envisioning RED in the center of that setting! A ruby, perhaps? That would be perfect for the holidays!

That''s an attention getter for sure! Really pretty!

YES YES YES~!

I''m glad you found what you were looking for! And I also think that a colored stone is the way to go with this busy setting. Cheers!!

Yes, I think it's going to get a colored gemstone. I just don't have time to do anything more with it for about the next 2 weeks. It's an estate piece, btw. It was made back in the late '60s or early '70s (I'll have to ask the seller again.) But it was never used. I love it. Thanks for the compliments.

HI:

Big ole colored stone for sure! I love cocktails rings--still looking for a vintage Oscar Heyman with my name on it.....

rock it!

cheers--Sharon

I see an emerald in that setting. It''s a fantastic setting. I love how showy it is!

Start a trend....I''m all for blingaliciousness.

I picture it with either a red or green center. What a fun ring.
