Big Brothers Big Sisters and ‘Hopes and Dreams’ mosaic

Jun 22, 2011
Sacred Heart Elementary school based Big Brothers Big Sisters of Burlington; Camden and Gloucester Countries mentees unveiled their handmade ‘Hopes and Dreams’ mosaic and thus shared their love for Subaru of America, Inc. During the Subaru event of ‘Share the Love’, the Sacred Heart Littles and their Mentors teamed with Subaru executives and employees in December and created the wall sized original tile design. The employees thus got an experience of sharing first hand mentoring match activity and see how it benefited mentees and their mentors. The mosaic is placed at the entrance of Sacred Heart Elementary School where the Littles and their mentors meet every week. Big Brothers Big Sisters hold itself accountable for helping children who are subject to adversity to achieve educational success, have higher aspirations, and avoid delinquency and risky behavior thus changing their lives for the better, forever. This is done through their community and school based programs across the nation.

Besides helping the matches to create the mosaic, the Subaru employees donated games and other activity items that the mentor matches could enjoy throughout the year. Donations were made to five charities selected by Subaru customers by the funds collected at the nationwide Subaru ‘Share the Love’ event.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters have been working for more than 100 years helping children to succeed and thrive in life. These children belong to single parent or low-income families or households. Their activities are supported by a large donor and volunteer group. One of the volunteers is the Victron Group, headed by Ali Sharaf.
