Hey all,

I searched the forum but couldn't find any threads about this yet.

I'm in conversation with Catherine at BGD about a 3-stone e-ring.

Catherine noted that BGD has started offering Pre-Order Ideals. My understanding from our exchange is that these are diamonds that Brian sources from the manufacturer that are cut to Brian Gavin Signature standards. Once ordered by the consumer, they are shipped to the grading lab. Brian guarantees that Pre-Order Ideals will be AGS000 and have at least the color, clarity, and weight as listed at the time of purchase. The diamonds are given the Brian Gavin Signature designation once received but benefit from a slight discount. The processing time is about 10 business days.

If I were to go this route, should I be worried about eye cleanliness?

I wouldn't have a chance to see the images (ASET, H&A, Idealscope) beforehand. Since it would be guaranteed a BG Signature, should this even be a concern?

Is there anything else that would be a concern here?

I won't purchase from Blue Nile because I can't see the diamond beforehand, but given Brian's strict standards and the guarantee the situation may be a bit different with BG Pre-Order Ideals.

This is a very interesting marketing concept!
I love how each vendor has his/her own "flavor".
Because we here are so close to them and exchange thoughts about them and see their posts, I find it fascinating that each has carved out a niche in the online diamond market - where all sell diamonds, but each has a special way of doing it. :appl:

The pre order ideals are their new concept. It just started a few days ago so there aren't any post about it yet.
I am also looking to purchase their pre order ideal. I believe with the strict selection from Brian as he is the one who go to the factory to pick those stone. I will not worry that much. And we can get to enjoy the lesser price than those already come with the cert. I think it is a win win situation for us.

Just my 2 cents. :cheeky:

Just a note that, while they aren't certified at time of order, Brian does guarantee that they will be certified AGS000 or, I presume, they'll either refund or substitute something better.

Are the diamonds cut from pre-existing diamonds from the manufacturer, or are they cut from rough?

They are cut from rough. I just confirm with them
