BG in Toronto?!?!?!

um... what is that all about??? Is it a tourist plug? are they selling via a Toronto vendor??

Odd!

"Toronto, Ontario in Canada is a marvelous blend of high-tech and backwoods. Nestled on the banks of the Ontario River..."..... LOLOLOLOL!

Haha its like they did even consult Wikipedia before writing that.

And Square One? Its in the GTA, but not exactly at the top of my list for shopping in the city. If I'm looking for jewelry I definitely wouldn't even think of looking there!

For sure, Chemgirl, Square One would not be on my radar either!

And claiming there is no place in TO to purchase high end jewellery? Apparently, they haven't done any research at all about the 4th largest city in North America.

Maybe they're just setting up an Ontario storefront to make it easier to do business with Canadians, and vice versa... even if most of the transactions are internet sales. If that's the case, the exact location doesn't really matter. :wink2:

Perhaps.

But this blatant lack of knowledge/education about perspective consumers, who they are directly advertising to, certainly does not invoke a sense of trust or credibility for anyone who might be interested in doing business with them. ;))

The funny part is that I don't think they plan on putting up a store in Square One. I think they were just trying to name-drop a local shopping destination.

"Toronto is home to both ultra modern shopping malls and quaint little boutiques. The shopping options are eclectic and seemingly endless. Days can be spent wandering through the small shops or enjoying the modern Square One shopping center."

This particular mall is in Mississauga and nowhere near the city center. Its more of a hub for bus transfers to outlying areas than anything else. People who live in Toronto proper would probably rarely, if ever, go there.

ETA: I should stop knocking Square One, apparently they're doing a major reno and should actually be fairly decent by 2016.

Last time I was there it was full of discount stores (Dollarama, Bulk Barn, Zellers). Places I totally shop at, but not exactly the image I have in mind when I think of high-end jewelry.

There's actually a page like that for every city named and linked at the bottom of every page. :wink2:

We Ship to Global Cities: Atlanta - Boston - Chicago - Hong Kong - Houston - London - Los Angeles - Miami - Melbourne - New York City - Portland - San Diego - San Francisco - Seattle - Singapore - Sydney - Toronto

Yeah like I said this is for google.

This is just so if you search something like "high end jewellery Toronto Ontario" BG will show up in the results.
I'm sure they have been on here, or have some of the members here as customers so they know there is a market in Toronto. So they are trying to capture some of those people.
They have pages for other major cities for the same reason.

Its called Search Engine Optimization.

I personally did laugh at "nestled on the banks of the river ontario" and "shopping at Square one". I suspect they did a search and just threw in as many keywords they could find as possible.

Hopefully they are more accurate with the other cities, and San Francisco is not described as backwoods and nestled on the banks of the California River ...

Hilarious!

I just looked up New York's. It is a flattering description for the most part, and in at least two places they talk about wanting to meet the citizens of New York. Getting to know the citizens? It sort of sounds like "Greeting, Earthlings" to me.

They also mention the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, with a paragraph about proposing at the Statue of Liberty. Meanwhile, I am not sure if I know any New Yorker who's been to the Statue of Liberty.
