I know this is going to be a crazy question/s in a PS forum but i thought i would ask it anyway. I know it may be too generalised a topic, but i just got curious.

I know some DH do not like bling and the wedder is all they wear. i guess i am curious about guys and their bling. there is a great folder of mens ring eye candy.... but i thought i ask in a general forum.....

my DH does not like bling at all, till i showed him the Canturi Ring. And, that is the only bling he likes. With that price tag, i told him that he can start saving for it. :cheeky: He still doesnt understand my Bling fascination, even tho he likes the canturi ring... go figure!!!!!! hehehehehehehe

My question: did any of your SO get so caught up with the diamond purchase and ring design for the proposal- ie got to love diamonds as well, get jealous and buy one for himself? or did you buy one for him?

My DH is getting more and more involved in "real" bling - even when I met him years ago he wore jewelry (cool pendants/chains and vintage rings) but these days he talks about getting *his* diamond and/or taking over one or two of my gemstones to make into rings for him - as much as I have always loved the fact that he is interested in my gemstone passion, I selfishly do not want to give up *my* treasures to him - and I definitely don't want my gemstone budget going his way! He knows he chooses to spend his play money on his own hobbies, but most of the stuff he spends money on is events (sport tickets, concert tickets, regular poker games with the guys, etc.) so at the end of the day he has memories but nothing concrete - certainly nothing blingy! We'll see if he decides to reallocate some of his hobby budget to gemstones...

My husband is jealous of my bling, but not because he wants bling...because he thinks he should be buying a boat with 'all the money I spend on diamonds'!
should I say... 'all the theoretical money I spend on diamonds', because actually there is more talk rather than action going on regarding diamond purchases around here.

I am jealous I can't wear rings.
There is something about my hand/finger shape that makes wearing rings extremely painful.
Iv got a kicken wedding band with bling and cant wear it :{

DH understand diamonds now. He sometimes educates his friends and throws in words like facets and table size. I'm not sure he knows exactly what he's talking about but I think it makes him feel good :) as for jealousy, he's not jealous of my actual bling. He still doesn't understand my obsession with diamonds because he thinks money should be spent equally. Like a car here or a purse there or new furniture. I just think bling bling bling. Not that he doesn't get anything. He has bought 3 cars this past year. So it's not like he's going hungry. :P

KarlK --- would you be willing to post a pic of this gorgeous band??? I'd LOVE to see it! If you think its amazing --- its GOTTA BE AWESOME! :D

My DH is just plain plain plain!! For our 20th and again for our 25th a few years ago, I wanted to upgrade his wedding band or add a diamond to it - nope, not happening. We did purchase an Atlas band from Tiffany for him, on our 25th, but that's as wild and blingy as he'd go!! Me, there is no such thing as 'too blingy' and he knows I love love LOVE diamonds and all things sparkly! He knows it, but he does not understand or "get it", although he's not opposed to learning vicariously thru me. He has a co-worker that wanted to get his wife something for Christmas - my DH retells the story to me of what he said to this guy... and there's DH, throwing out "diamond words and phrases" that totally impressed me!!! Yay DH!!! you go there big guy!!! I think the tipping point for his further appreciation of diamonds and jewelry, was our NYC trip when we got to meet with LJN, IDJ and DBL and spent so much time with David learning so much and being able to handle so many gorgeous loose stones. A real eye opener for him.

Bottom line - he has no issues with me buying what I want for myself and is happy to see the joy it brings me. He's learning... but definitely not jealous of the purchases at all.

My husband has two wedding bands and both are plain. He got somewhat into diamonds when we were researching them for my engagement ring, but he's not into them for himself.

+1

You are lucky to have a DH so supportive!

yay tacori and enerchi-- funny to hear that DH likes to add into conversation about diamonds with other colleagues.

Mine doesn't understand it, he merely accepts that I'm a magpie. So he doesn't get jealous, he just gets even: whenever I have a "jewelry indiscretion", he takes a good, close look at the new piece, and usually grins and says, "Wow, I see a new jib/spinnaker/etc in my near future!" ;))

Mine thinks I'm nuts. A sane person would put the money into 1963 Maserati wheels, carburetors, points, extra dashboards, tail lights, etc. (I once discovered he'd spent $8000 on an entire spare engine "just in case" & hidden it in the garage!) He has finally accepted that he married a defective individual who will never get her priorities right.

Greg - I have no insight to add to your DH dilemma - I just wanted to say "welcome back!" I was beginning to think we'd lost you!

The plan was to add the rubies after I got married to match my wifeys wedding set,,, RB with ruby wrap.
But since I cant wear it I didn't waste the money having it put together.

My DH has no interest in bling what so ever. However he likes to make me happy so he always listens and comes shopping with me when we look or buy. I very rarely make a purchase without him being involved in some way.

One day I really want to upgrade his wedding band to an a la Tony Hawk special. With diamonds embedded in the shank but only noticable from a certian angle. An example is below. I have seen a few designers do them and I have also seen some PSers post some by ERD. I'm thinking for our 10 year anniversary instead of getting me new bling I will get him some bling.

Hey hey VRBeauty!!! I have been real busy leading up to Xmas break. So, now I have 2 weeks off!!!! Woo hoo to that!!

As for my DH with his bling- I am glad that he doesn't really get bling. He likes pearls more- and i got him a 13mm cream white (Pasaley) pearl on a neoprene band necklace for our first born almost 2 yrs ago; posted on here in the pearl section. I cant seem to attach it on here at the moment as i am on the mobile/ cell phone. Having said that -DH like pieces to add to his collection, so that one pearl necklace is enough. So, I am lucky in that respect!!! Yay.

I am a tad concerned about the one he likes!! I shouldnt have shown him that ring!!!! As I said to him, I think he can start saving up his money for that one. Its a huge price tag!!!!! i wonder if any vendor could make a similar design for 1/2 that price.....will look into it more when the time arises. Surprisingly, we had that conversation the other day, as he saw me on this forum and could not understNd my 'obsession'- as he refers to it; and he has been saving lots!!! Huh??? Why isn't he spending money on me??????? Hehheheheheheh.

Of course, I will be helping him choose and making sure that it is all good. There are also gold jewelry that his dad has handed down to him (his dad too isn't much of a bling wearer -just the wedder). He wants to melt that down and use it as part of the new ring. So, maybe in the next few years, I will post it up on here: as per PS code of conduct.

I am also working/ thinking of my eternity band. Trying to sort out budget. Saving wherever I/we can. I was Soo lucky this year with my tax return that I could spend in my diamond. My accountant was very creative with last year. But, he did tell me that I probably would not get the same this coming year!!! :o

Oops- sorry for that long post! It's holidays and I have lots of time, and DH is with our daughter. So, what do I do when I wake up??? Check PS, of course!!! Oh- no!!!! Is that a sign?????

Thanx!!! Shame that you can't wear it.

Yes it is a sign! That you need to visit more often! I was also beginning to think you left us! It was a sad thought! Don't leave us Greg! Can't you feel the pull of PS when you are away for too long? The longing, the need, the wanting... :naughty:

I can understand that-I guess it's like having another choice of ring that you have in your jewelry box!
Hehehehheeh or that could be your next reason for next purchase???!?? Heheheheheh

oh my, Sarahbear, that is a fantastic man's band!! I really like that - subtle enough from the top, but would showcase a little flash as he moves his hands. Oooooh, now that's a good looking ring!! I hope you can do that for your DH on your 10th! what a lovely plan :praise:

DF...no one feels sorry for you with your watch collection! :naughty:

Greg, my DH is into cars and that is where his hobby money goes (old Porsches, to be specific). I have to say that I am happy that only one of us is into bling.....more for me! :naughty:

Agree with DS on all points! DF! You have watches GALORE!

And as for my DH too, he has literally owned more than 50 cars in his 31 years before he met me. And like I said before, he bought 3 cars and one motorcycle this year (I think the bike was this year...). Just think if he was obsessed with cars AND bling??? We would be DIRT poor. Or worse-I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET AS MUCH BLING!
