I want to set my 1ct RB original e-ring in a pendant and have a few questions.

I really like the bezel setting but I think I would prefer it to be able to slide around on the chain. For those of you who stationary bezels, do you find that the diamond moves up your neck and you have keep sliding it back down so it''s in the proper place? I am wondering I should do a bezel though because the cut isn''t that good (pre pricescope) so I don''t want a bezel to hinder it''s performance. Would I be better going with a prong setting?

I don''t want a traditional 4 prong setting with the bale if I can avoid it, but I do want it to be solitaire...no halos, etc. My budget is $300 (absolute maximum), I want white gold, and I want to get it done locally. I would like to get a chain that has the option of switching between 16" and 18". Is that something that has to be custom made, or is there someplace that local stores can order them?

So what do you think, bezel or no? What other settings would you recommend? Thanks!

I just recently had your issue. My stone is .57 cts, and I had it set in the martini style setting. It literally drove me nuts, b/c the stone would end up on the side of my neck or in the back. It was never in the center of my neck.

So, I had it reset into a full bezel (from Whiteflash), and they fixed it so that the stone slides on the chain. They also put an extra loop in at 16 inches, so that I can wear it at 16 or 18 inches. It's white gold, and they only charged me an extra $50 for the modifications. That made the whole process less than $300.

I love it, now!

i have a 1ct stationary bezel pendant with an 18" chain and an O ring at 16". exactly what you''re describing. It moves up my neck all the time, usually to the left side and drives me crazy.
As far as the chain, they just added a loop at 16 inches. It took a few minutes to do while i waited. No problems.
I''m not sure if bezel or prong would make a difference in regards to it moving around your neck tho

I had it set locally and wasn''t charged extra for the ring at 16" and mine''s platinum. No offense to Whiteflash, but if they charged you $50 just for the loop in white gold, I think that''s expensive.

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. I also had WF thin out the bezel, so that there was as little metal showing as possible. That and the O ring at 16 inches cost me an extra $50.

I can''t be of any help on the bezel set solitaire but I think it will be very pretty.

My solitaire is 4 prong mounted on a split bale and sometimes moves off center when the clasp moves to the front; other than that is stays in place.

I will be anxious to see your finished pendant.

I have a sliding bezel and it does not move up my neck. I love bezel sets.

Makes much more sense now :)

Orbaya, If you don''t want it to slide, a stationary makes much more sense. Like Skippy said, hers doesn''t move up her neck. Your budget is more than enough for something in white gold. I also like the look of a bezel on a sliding chain much more so than prong set.

Marcy, any pics of yours? Not sure what a split bale looks like.

I do really love the look of the stationary pendants, but I don''t want to constantly have to move it back down to the front. I think I''ll end up going with something so that the pendant can slide around on the chain to keep the diamond where it''s supposed to be.

Can I see pictures of your pendant?

Your bezel mounting slides around on the chain, not stationary right? I''m asking everyone, can I see what yours looks like with the free-floating pendant?

I want the diamond to free-float on the chain because if the diamond is stationary on the chain, I''m afraid that the diamond might end up on the side of my neck, not staying down front. I don''t know if I explained that well. LOL!

ops, let''s see if I can find a picture.

Here is mine. Someone recently had one that slides made by WF but I can't remember who.

IMO, I think the sliding has to do more with the weight of the pendant rather than how it is set (stationary bezel , sliding or prong). The lighter the pendant, the more it moves around. You need a little bit of weight to keep the pendant centered. My preference would be for a sliding bezel ( primarily due to the weight factor) plus it love the look.

Very pretty!!

I will! My concern with a bezel is if it will hinder the performance? My diamond isn''t cut very good so I don''t want lose any sparkle. I don''t want to make the stone look dead.
