57,

How is your diamond search coming along or have you bought one already?

Hi Lorelei,

My diamond search is coming along to say the least, thanks for asking! I''m going back and forth with my original choice and I keep educating myself from different resources , including this great site.

sorry, some late basic questions...

- how do you pull out diamonds on BN that are from Canada? (I just tried...and don''t see a category for this...)...
- why do this, look for Canadian? (i.e. have you seen other posts, or consider constructive engagement instead?).

Thanks!

It looks like a firm can choose legally to define a Canadian mined diamond either way. People who want Canadians to do all the work involved to the finished product would prefer to choose those stone where the entire process has been done in Canada and those who simply want to insure the rough is not from a human rights violator and also meets the Kimberly Process regs may choose to have Canadian rough cut in some other venue. The end result certainly can look identical, but the brand identification may be confused by these two channels of similarly named diamonds.

For me, it wouldn''t mater which way the stone happened to come into the market between these two variations. Maybe there are some folks who have definite feelings about the entire stone being a Canadian product. I see no harm in understanding exactly the differences and making an informed choice. Obviously, this is a sentimental choice, not a visual one.
