Last week I started this thread, trying to pick out my wedding band. I was trying to decide between two bands (one from Lang antiques in SF, and the Beverly K band from Pearlman''s). I went with the Bev K band because I was told that it could be manufactured with French cut diamonds intead of baguettes.

I placed the order last Thursday, only to get an email today saying that Bev K no longer offers French cuts because a lot of carat weight is long in cutting these stones.

I still went ahead with the order (now baguettes instead of French cuts) because it was the style of ring that I liked with my e-ring, but I soooo disappointed. I was really excited about having French cuts in my set, and thought they would complement my e-ring the best. Now I''m not even looking forward to getting my band

There''s really no point to this post, but I had to get it out, since no one in the "real" world would understand. Well, that, and to warn others that French cuts (from Bev K''s standpoint) are no more!

Stephen Russell in NYC (top top high end jewelry) carries eternity bands with french cuts of every size--they also mix them with rubies, sapphires etc.............I have two and couldnt love them more. they love them and use them extensively.............they have amazing and unique deco and edwardian reproductions of Leon Mege and higher caliber. and many estate pieces

Why don''t you just cancel the order and find another place that does offer french cuts?

Jewels by Erica Grace has a french cut repro. band that might fit the bill for what you want ....

bgray - Thanks, I''ll try to find their site. How expensive are the bands?

NF - My wedding is 6 weeks away, and I don''t think I could get a band made that fast if I don''t already know which one I want. I''ll definitely check out bgray''s suggestion. But other than Bev K I don''t even know where else to find French cuts.

let me go find the invoice

okay-i purchased these exactly 2 years ago this month.

the all diamond one 35 diamonds=1.20 carats size 6.5 $5,000
the diamond and ruby band is .75 carat diamonds and .95 carat rubies and was $2500

both set in platinum --i believe that i was told the diamonds were EF. my e-ring is an E and there is no discernible difference

Scroll about 2/3 of the way down to find the french cut band: they''re offering it in yellow gold, but I''m betting they could do a rose gold or platinum version for you ....

You can also try Singlestone.... www.singlestone.com ..... I know they make bands with french cuts.

Dont settle for something you''re not 100% happy with...You still have plenty of time to find the band you want.

Good luck!!!

Thank everyone so much! I feel a bit better that there are at least some options available.

bgray - Thanks so much for looking up the info for me! I will definitely check those out. I need a pretty thin band (no wider than 2mm), so perhaps they will have something that fits the bill. Do they make the bands to order, or are they similar to Tiff''s, where you pick out a ready made band?

Circe - Thanks for the link. I''ve been looking at JbEG''s site and saw that ring about a week ago. If they can make it in platinum, I would be over the moon, because it is gorgeous!

Dani - Thanks for the suggestion about SS. I completely forgot about them. I''ll try contacting them and see what they can do.

In the meantime, I''m not sure what to do. For the actual ceremony, I''ll need a plain band, so maybe I don''t have to get my w-band for the wedding (even though I feel like I should).

I think I''ll keep my order for now, and look into your wonderful suggestions and decide then.

Thanks again PSers!

I was just going to suggest getting a plain band for the ceremony if you can''t find what you are looking for beforehand. I don''t think it''s a big deal if it means getting what you REALLY want ya know?

I can''t believe this!! I LOVE french cuts! I really hope they reconsider, there are many of us out there that can tell the difference between a french cut and a bag and would prefer (and pay more for) the french cut stones!

I think the band on JbEG is actually Erica's former wedding band, and that she had it made by Singlestone; anyway, it's the one in her avatar. Could be wrong about it being Singlestone, but most of her ring settings have been from SS. So it's probably a one-off, unfortunately. Maybe Erica will see this & tell us? (I suppose you could have it rhodium dipped if you aren't the sort that wears rhodium off quickly.)

NF - Thanks for the suggestion. After some thought, I think I may go this route. I was hoping our photog would take some cool shots of my set, but I guess I''ll have to do that myself

kcoursolle - It''s funny you mention that. That''s the first thing I asked Julian about, but he said they''re just not available. I would be willing to pay a little more for them, and maybe have a half eternity to save on the costs -- but they won''t even do that!

they have different widths made up but will make whatever you want--my diamond band is 2mm

LGK - Thanks! I hope Erica sees this thread too, maybe she''ll know where to look. Unfortunately, I''m not too keen on having my w-band rhodium plated, because the color quite a bit lighter than platinum, and I can''t say I am gentle with my rings

True and true :)

I would not recommend dipping it - the band can be ordered in any metal.

Aiiiii! My apologies for the misinformation. Off I go to blush ... but I''ll keep an eye out for any other options.

You might try calling dimendscaasi they are currently phasing out their beverly k rings (they are on sale) and might have the one your looking for in stock.

Just a possibility

Don''t be silly! We work with SS often and carry pieces made by them (among other jewelers). We also can act as facilitators for our clients who wish to order from SS, custom settings, etc., which usually happens in cases when a stone is purchased from us and the setting from SS. We do what we can to be helpful - feel free to ping me with any questions you might have about the band.

Heh, thanks Erica - will keep that in mind for the future! And in the meantime, Deelight''s suggestion is absolutely brilliant ....

Erica - Thank you. That band is beautiful! How wide is it?

Deelight - That is a great idea! I'll give Dimend Scaasi a call tomorrow, and see if they have anything.

Circe - Thank you again for looking around for me.

Sorry you are disappointed. I would cancel the order (if you can) b/c you should be 100% happy with your wedding band. You will be wearing it for a VERY long time.

ditto. I think you you can''t find exactly what you want in time for the wedding than just using a plain band for the ceremony would be fine. Don''t settle on your wedding band...

Tacori, MrsS - I just called Pearlman's and cancelled my order

. In the meantime I've asked Julian if he can work somethingo out with Bev. K so that they can make a band with french cuts for me. I am willing to pay extra for it, or even get a half eternity band if that makes things easier for them.

I've called SS, and asked about Erica's band. They quoted me $3500 for a 1.7mm eternity, which is way above my budget ($2k, willing to go to $3k but really don't want to). Patty will be sending me some detailed pictures of the band, and if I like I will try to work on the price with SS.

If not, I'll wear a plain band in the meantime, and perhaps get the French cut band for a first anni.

I still feel kind of down, but much better than yesterday -- I'll get over it eventually.

Hi Brooklyngirl,

Stephen Russell does have a good number of beautiful pieces, but is over-priced, imho. Let's put it this way -- I'd sooner buy from Fred Leighton's.

P.S. Love your signature.

So sorry Brooklyn! I have french cut rubies in my band and I love the cut too. I hope they are able to work something out for you!

Maybe this is a sign you should get the Tessa ring
2.gif
1K...and then you can get your french cut diamond band for an anni. It would look PERFECT!

Harriet - I''ll be back in NYC this weekend, and will definitely visit Stephen Russell, although I doubt I will find something in my price range.
I''m adjusting to suburban life in CA *extremely* slowly, lol.

:) - Oh man, if my e-ring wasn''t part pink, I would be rockin'' a colored band like there''s no tomorrow! I''m thinking I''ll need a stacker for an anni down the line
27.gif
. Your band sounds divine!

Tacori - That could also be an option. It''s 1k in platinum?

UPDATE:
I just got an email from Patti @ SS, and she quoted me 3100 for a FC/OEC 3/4 eternity in plat (

@ OEC!!). I will chat with her tomorrow and see if there''s any way she could get the price down to ~2500 (on a 1/2 eternity band). Maybe if they use RB instead of OEC they could go down in price a bit (since they don''t need to cut those by themselves).

I would love love love to have OECs in my band. I have taken a real liking to these stones recently. I''m getting kind of excited

Fred Leighton is even more overpriced than Stephen Russell..................
