Better color or better clarity?

Color and clarity preferences are very personal. You really need to see diamonds in person and decide for yourself. Some people like their diamonds with a hint of warmth or simply cannot see any color in an H or I. Others want a very high clarity, even though they may not be able to see a difference with the naked eye. For me, I would much rather have an E than an H. You would have to find out if the SI diamond is eye clean. Some are and some aren't. Assuming both are eye clean, I would prefer the E.

I would pay the most attention to the cut. Not knowing too much about rounds, I will let some of the others advise you on that.

The E faces up a bit bigger, but it''s also several hundred more. I guess if you want to eek out the most finger coverage, I''d go with it. If not, you''ll save a few with the other.

Same size...both ACA''s...I''d rather have the E SI1 over the H VS2 in a heartbeat. I love the colorless range and for inclusions I couldn''t see anyway (assuming the SI1 is eyeclean) I''d rather have the E.

i would take the e/si

With cuts being good in both, I''d take an E over an H anyday!

It''s something you can see, whereas the difference in clarity you wouldn''t be able to see without a loupe.

I favor the E color as well. What if the H color stone was 1.28 carats, would you still go with the smaller, better color?

I''d take an E/SI over an H/VS2 any day.
Has whiteflash put in on hold for you? Have they eye-balled it?

Scintillating...

They have looked at it and said it was eye clean. They did say that a discerning eye may notice a tiny inclusion on the side. The setting I was looking at may cover that area depending on where it is.

I would take the eye clean E. I like the color more, the spread is better. Assuming they are cut equally that is how I would go.

Did they say you could see something "from the side" or "on the side". To me, the first one doesn''t matter once the stone is set. But the second, well, that could mean you see something on the side of the table from the top view and that I would not want.

Maybe clarify that part with them.

Since it''s eye-clean, another vote for the e/SI

but i like having a wee inclusion that only i know is there. it let''s me know that i have *my* diamond. it''s just a little bit of reassurance. and it''s mine. no one else has one like it.

I'm in the minority around here for sure. My order of diamond needs is cut, clarity and then color. I like a little body color in my diamonds (I even like yellow ones!), but prefer very good clarity whether I can see it or not. So my choice would be to pay for the clarity rather than the colorless characteristic. One is not more right than the other, just personal preference.

I purchased the 1.182 E color.... hope I like it!
