Considering lab grown round diamonds for an anniversary ring. I would be looking for something around 2 ctw or a bit higher so would probably want to look at .4-.45 stones. Would also want a platinum setting. The most important factor for me is the cut and sparkle. Thoughts?
I bought a lovely 5 stone for my mother years ago (I was working at High Performance Diamonds at the time and used one of our benches). And though I could have gone with super ideals, but at 30 points each, there wasn't a large enough difference (at all) to justify the price difference. And every time I see that thing it's a freaking light show. We just went for HCA under 2 GIA Ex/Ex. G color. And honestly, if I were doing a five stone (wouldn't mind honestly) I'd just look for the same: HCA under 2, Ex/Ex cut through a reliable vendor. And then just get the setting I want from there and call it a day.
Also, if you haven't already go try on some larger five stone bands. I had this SUPER DUPER blingy and glorious band from BGD at one point. Gorgeous. Conspicuous. LOOK AT ME ring. Ultimately, it was too much for me. I'm not a conspicuous "look at me" person. I felt uncomfortable wearing it, and so I sold it. So, even though I could easily get 50 point lab diamonds for a 5 stone, I don't think I would. I would want something as a right hand ring for everyday. And that would be too much. So think of your personality and use.
