best vendor(s) for finding the best EC ?

Hi,

I think I really want an emerald shape and as I was reading through the threads I noticed that Whiteflash would require us to pay shipping on a stone that we''d like called in, whereas other jewelers seems to have greater access to either diamonds in-house, or suppliers nearby...Obviously I can look at the "numbers" but then I will want to see all the rest of the info, including pics, Sarin report, etc. etc. and then be able to trust the vendor(s) I''m asking to be my "eyes". I can see that the vendors most often mentioned here are all good and so many of you have had great success with them. But is there one, or two vendors, who seem particular good at indentifying ECs and who might have some at their disposal more easily than others? Will I have to pay to have a stone "called in" - I need to see pictures, etc! I will also need to ask y''all''s advice and opinions...but I don''t know. Anyway, which vendors would be best suited to the EC search and have the greatest access to the stones without my having to call in and pay for several of them for review?

I really want to get something online...but I really want to see the diamonds before I decide.

I am happy with the vendor I''ve talked with...I just wonder if there is another one who might have more diamonds at his/her disposal for me to review.

I have not requested anything to be "called in" yet. I''ve just reviewed numbers of some stones within my parameters. Next step is calling them in.

No one carries a large stock of them.
GOG will bring in 2 for free.....

Well, Mark at ERD is very good with fancy shapes and has a large number at his disposal in the diamond district. He is also excellent to work with.

GOG also usually has great info on their diamonds, including pictures, and their customer service is supposed to be superb.

I''d go with Mark at ERD if you don''t want to deal with the uncertaincy of shipping virtual stones. He has a very keen eye for fancy shaped diamonds and has access to lots of diamonds. He does not charge for shipping but also doesn''t do all the Iscope stuff. He only takes a regular picture of the stone. You have to trust him (which I do). WF and GOG will do all the gamut of tests but also charge you shipping for all the virtual stones that you call in to their locations for testing.

I had a great experience with WF. At first I was lookijg for radiants, and Sheera did a nationwide search for me to find exactly what I was looking for. You will get quality service if you go with WF and they work hard to find exactly what you want...I can especially vouch for Sheera! Good luck...
