Best time to buy plane tickets?

Hello all,

I need to buy tickets to Europe for a wedding in August. I was wondering what month would be the best time to find the cheapest tickets. I know usually the advice was to buy as early as possible, but do you think that still holds true in these economic times? So far I''ve seen the prices go anywhere from $1100 - $1600 with no apparent pattern.

Yes, it still holds true, especially for foreign travel. People often save for years to go on big trips and there are a lot of people that are of the mentality that, regardless of the economy, they deserve to go. So, travel is still popular enough to have an impact on prices.

Just curious where you are going? I''m pretty darn good at finding cheap airfare. I got a friend a ticket to Kenya from NY for a dirt cheap price and I flew from Boston to LA round trip for $189.

Wow Cello! You are truly a master! That's cheaper than a flight from SF to Seattle!

I'm looking to fly from SF to Munich on Aug. 4th to Aug. 11th.

a lot of airlines have deals that if you book before the end of the month (with travel dates in the next 3-6 months) you can get cheaper flights. you just have to watch the airline websites for these deals.

I wouldn''t wait last minute with this one because August is summer vacation high-season in Europe.

I have noticed that flight prices typically change sometime at night (midnight?) of Tuesday night, Wednesday morning. I book flights all the time!
