Folks, who's the best vendor to purchase diamond earrings from? I'm looking for either 2ct studs or an elegantly designed pair. I'm looking for an excellent price and good quality. Who has the best clearance prices? Thanks!

Anyone?

A lot of the vendors here are good to purchase diamond earrings from. Whiteflash, Brian Gavin Diamonds, High Performance Diamonds, Good Old Gold, James Allen, etc. If I were you, I would probably go with James Allen because they seem to have diamonds that are lower priced that you can choose yourself to put in studs. I just did a search on their website, and found some reasonably priced matched pairs. Now, I don''t know anything about how well cut the diamonds are, but I''m not sure if you''re concerned more with that or more with how inexpensive they are.

Hi Joe

Coda is right, try the vendors she suggests, if you like we can look for some for you if you tell us your budget and other requirements, I take it you want studs of a carat each thereabouts?

Coda, I am very familiar with JA because I purchased the H&A AGS0 stone from him for my fiancee''s ring. The reason I ask is two-fold: I recall Stone-cold mentioning that you can get studs for surprisingly good prices and I''m not sure where he meant those could be obtained. The other question is: how good of a diamond does it need to be? I purchased an E VS1 Hearts and Arrows for the e-ring, but do I need to go all-out again on the studs? What ballpark price-range should I expect if I want to be in the .8-1ct per stud?

Lorelei, I would like approx 1ct but I have a feeling it''s going to cost me quite a bit after I just recently splurged on a very nice platinum E VS1 H&A e-ring. I''m trying to establish what it''ll cost me and what the sweet spot is. Perhaps I can do .75ct each if I can save a lot of money. What do you think is best?

Go with JA then. Try finding stones with better spread, shallower crown and pavilion angles. You won''t need to get H&A for ear-ring studs as you will not see them close enough for obstruction effect to come it.

What kind of budget and specs are you working with?

Ok, we can definitely try JA as SC suggests and match you up a pair, as he says having a traditional cut isn't strictly necessary as shallower proportioned stones can make great earrings, I would look at H - J colour and SI clarities if verified eyeclean by the vendor.

What is your budget Joe?

I''m bumping this because I''m also looking for studs.

I compared James Allen with Blue Nile and noticed JA is more expensive for the same ready-made studs. I''ll have to do a search of loose matched pairs.
