When my nails are longer, they chip much faster, so if I grow them out a little, I stick with sheer colors. Plus, I think that long, colored nails looks really dated. If I wear color, I trim my nails pretty short, so there''s almost no white visible. With such a short nail, they don''t chip for several days. I also apply a top coat - my favorites are Poshe and Orly''s In a Snap. I like how both topcoats surface-dry wet polish in minutes, and they certainly help add shine and longevity. You know how polish can go dull after a couple of days? If you apply another topcoat, it will look like new. Some people swear by Seche Vite, but I''ve tried several bottles of it, and keep going back to the others.Date: 5/7/2010 2:17:35 PM

And see, there is the rub... colored nail polish chips so fast! When I wore the french it was esy to touch up the tips and get about 2 weeks out of it. But with color I will have to do my nails so often! I am not sure I am up for that!
Here''s a pic of my short nails (but honestly, I like them even shorter than this length):
And here they are a little longer with sheer polish:
dreamer, go grab some colors that appeal to you and get started! Then come back and show us!
