What free anitvirus program do you recommend? I've used Avast and Malbytes Malware but I'm finding when they expire, that they, sort of, seem to do something to your computer to jam it up (aka - try make you buy the regular version). I've heard other people say that too, lately.

Thanks.

SC, DH uses AceFTP Freeware, recommended by a computer techie who cleaned out a virus for him. He likes it. I use the free version of Malwarebytes & haven't had any problems -- it doesn't expire, instead updates itself automatically. I do get a pop-up asking if I want the bought version but just click on No Sir.

Thanks J.F.

Now I had downloaded the free version of Malbytes yesterday (yesterday !) and today it is telling me it expired. W.T. - ?

When I had a pc, I used AVG free. It's not without frustration as it has its own issues of frequent updates but the company I used to work for used it and a friend who works in IT of mine suggested it. I'm so glad I switched to a mac.

Hubby recommends AVG, we use it on the computer our son uses and so far so good.

Though far from free, I think a Mac is the best way to avoid viruses.
Free software updates are constantly supplied, keeping you safer.
About every 2 or 3 years you have to spend $20 to get the latest operating system.
