I think so too. Despite being a woman of color, I have been sticking to platinums, however my ebay purchase came in yellow gold and now that I''m looknig at it, the warmer metal looks good with me, so I think my compromise might be the unplated WG. sent a request to BGD so we''ll see what he can come up with.Date: 1/8/2010 9:20:13 AM

Singlestone?
It''s a lovely setting, and unplated wg would be gorgeous
I really, really like that light creaminess. It''s so flattering on so many skin tones!![]()
I guess I thought the white gold would make it look more "Aged".. who know, I just love the style and I''m not at all about being "historically appropriate" because being black, I doubt many of my ancestors historically even had access to this jewelry.Date: 1/8/2010 11:08:54 AM

Just a small historical nitpick: white gold is fairly recent, developed during WWII, so perhaps not really acurate for that style of ring.
Platinum would be more historically appropriate for pieces in styles from Edwardian on. Before that, silver was the white metal used, even in very high end diamond pieces.
That makes a lot of sense. Don''t mind me: I am a history nut who is rather OCD about this (I have been told that watching me read a bad historical romance is very entertaining, as I visibly wince my way through the bad descriptionsDate: 1/8/2010 11:47:24 AM

I have an antique ring from the late teens that is white gold. Platinum became scarce during WWI and white gold was developed and used for jewelry. Once the war ended in 1918 they started using platinum again. But white gold had been established by that time and continued to be used. My avatar is the white gold Edwardian-era ring.Date: 1/8/2010 11:08:54 AM

No this ring hand ring is INSTEAD of a trade in. My three stone is over 3 1/2 cttw and I have convinced myself that I was being greedy. a 2.29 ct center stone is large enough for now. I''m going to wait until I can afford to upgrade to over 3 cts. This works to cure my diamond need for a whileDate: 1/9/2010 1:30:21 AM

BGD would be my first choice, but I would also get quotes from Singlestone and WF to be complete.
Is this in addition to your three stone? I recall you were contemplating a trade in. Did you make a decision?
I have never dealt with Leon and I think I would be a bit intimidated by him. I also read somewhere that he''s picky about the diamonds he works with. My stone is a lower colored OEC and I think he might look down on it. I''m going to have to get some photos up!Date: 1/8/2010 4:10:13 PM

I think singlestone would be a nice fit, but they are pricey IMO and were always the highest quote when I got quotes from them. But, they do really beautiful work so if budget is no issue then I''d go with them b/c they specialize in antiques and antique reproductions.
BGD would probably be my next choice based on pics I''ve seen here. They are putting out some beautiful pieces.
Wink Jones and Whiteflash are two others you might want to consider.
When I saw the bubble work on the setting you posted I thought of Leon Mege b/c he''s made some amazing setting with the bubble gallery. But, if you want an exact replica or close copy of the antique ring, Leon probably wouldn''t be your guy.
good luck, gorgeous ring.
