Going to brave some local shopping today. Looking at lightbulbs when I’m out getting Christmas lighting.

What type should I get for diamond gazing? Any types to specifically avoid?

:kiss2:

I had this debate last year. I have recessed lighting in my kitchen - 12 to be exact. I tried the whitest bulbs but they almost had a bluish cast and even changed the paint color on the wall! I ended up with bulbs that are more yellow (warm) than I intended but it keeps the other colors in the room true. I know I have saved a lot of money on the electric bill with these newer bulbs but I wish I could have tolerated the whiter light.

For the UK contingent, Asda and Lidl are better than M&S and Boots. Also outside lights at a Christmas Market are good.

Point-source lighting is best for creating fire IIRC, whereas 'flat' diffuse lighting minimises that but shows contrast patterns well (again, IIRC...) - it might be worth looking for bulbs with exposed filaments, then, if I understand it correctly?? and having several of them. This is why spotlights are better than uplighters, I think!

I guess I will be experimenting this holiday season! =)2

I vote for LED strip lights under the wall cabinets. The ones we happen to have are all white. This is a pic off the web.

They're also available in colors and with dimmers. With a choice of hardwired or plug-in.
