Hi to everyone at PS! I have been a casual browser of this forum trying to obtain as much knowledge as possible and feel it is the perfect time for my first post.

I am looking for the best "bang for the buck" princess cut stone with the following features:

Size - 1.5ct (Obviously the bigger the better!)
Cut - High Quality
Color - Something that appears colorless, but is as far down the scale scale as possible!
Clarity - Eye clean is fine for me!

I came to the conclusion that a high quality cut stone with H color & SI1 may be a good starting point.

I am far less concerned with the grade of a diamond taken unmounted laying face down under a microscope than I am with how it looks in a setting under normal light. I have considered stones with multiple certification levels and understand that EGL certification is much more relaxed than GIA. However, the price advantage seemed to outweigh the downgrade in certification.

Any thoughts on a good starting point for EGL grade diamonds or should I avoid all together.

www.uniondiamond.com has a bunch of them with attractive prices but the certification scares me.

Thanks to all for reading my post and I appreciate any feedback you can offer!

H SI1 is a nice place to be.

The general opinion of EGL is that you get what you pay for; that is, if it is priced more like an I SI2, it may very well be.

Hi overbore

I agree with J. If you give us your budget and requirements we could take a look to try to find some suitable diamonds for you?
