I have read several posts about people warping their Plat. rings either by gripping a steering wheel too tight or other issue. I realize people are more often going to remark about a bad experience than a positive one.

Have most of the people here had an "issue" with Plat. or do I seem to be only reading the bad posts?

Thanks.

I asked a jeweler today what metal I should have and that I was considering 14k wg and told her I am very hard on rings... always banging them on stuff and she said 18k wg would be best for me, better than platinum. I have a friend with a plat ring and she''s had to fix the head of her setting twice... I need something hard as hell lol

I wore my plat. rings 24/7 for 5 years and was a lot harder on my rings than I am now and I never had any problem. they are still perfectly round. True, there are stories of plat. bending but I don''t think it''s overly common.

Hmmmm....2 distinct opinions on this. So I may have to present the plat. ring with a sheet of bubble wrap for her hands....looks like I will need a bigger box.

I''ve never had any problems with my rings going out of shape. I wonder if those that are having problems have the type of rings where holes are drilled all the way through?

I suppose it also matters on how thin/thick the band of the ring is. My ering is actually a little on the thin side in the back and i''ve still never had a problem. I''m super...SUPER..clumsy. I''m always banging my rings around on anything and they are nice and sturdy! I love my plat rings!

Oooh also...I don''t wear my ering when I work out but I do wear my wedding ring more often than not and there is a lot of "gripping" the weight machines and my ring is still perfectly round.

it could be the type of plat, what it''s mixed with etc. i have also heard of platinum bending and heard of it also not. i''ve had my rings for 3 years and i am VERY rough on my hands and have worn them to work out and weight lifting and not had a problem. but platinum can bend when force is exerted on it, you may want to keep that in mind when choosing the setting and style for the gal.

I have thicker rings and have worn them for almost a year now. I take them off for any heavy cleaning or housework, but I never take them off away from home so I usually end up wearing them to the gym. I have had no problem with them whatsoever, knock wood!!! (except that I did not realize exactly what the patina would look like and so that was a surprise.)
