Been lurking... now have questions about PS Vendors?

So, i''ve been reading this forum for the past month, and getting tons of info.
I have not been able to find a square cushion (In Person) that I like.

I have been getting more and more confident by reading PS to order from one the "top 3" that people use here... maybe 4:

As far as PICTURES, info, etc, are concerned, it seems that JamesAllen & GOG are the only ones that provide pictures for CUSHIONS. WHY?!?!??!

How did everyone order their diamonds if you cannot get a real picture of it?

I am SO confused, since everybody on here has bought from WF and ERD???

Most places don't have cushions in stock (and I don't even think James Allen has them in stock), but they seem to have someone who photographs the stones for them, which is really niiiice as it lets you browse their site for cushions. GOG has photos (and VIDEOS!) of Jon's hand picked cushions on his site and he has access to even more than those but all of the vendors can call in the cushions for you and will send you a photo of the stone(s) that they call in. ERD's photos aren't that fabulous but Mark has a phenomenal track record for picking pretty cushions, as does Jon, but Jon's photos are incredible and there's loads of additional info with his stones. James Allen has gemologists in NY who will view the stones in person and give you a good, honest opinion of the stone's appearance/performance, but they are based in MD, if I recall correctly. WF is out in Texas, so there's a charge for each stone they call in for you (most likely come from NYC) but they will take detailed photos with ASET images, etc like GOG.

I don't know of anyone on here that's ordered their cushion site unseen. Some get photos and others make appointments to view the stones in person.

I think GOG and ERD are the place to get cushions. Mark at ERD has pulled some amazing cushions for people, but his photography is lacking. He will give you a picture, but they aren''t great. However, both vendors have return policies in case you don''t like what you end up picking out once you see it in person. I would give both a call and tell them what you are looking for and see what they come up with.

Go with Mark, I''d rather someone really trustworthy to pick the stone, rather than me pick it from a pic....jmo...Dan

Ditto - Mark is known as the Cushion Guy for a reason, he will pick you a stunning cushion, no need for pics. There are many happy PSers who have cushions from Mark.
