Hi,

My boyfriend and I are shopping for engagement rings. We found a setting we love - the Beaudry Beautique style 205475. The only problem is that it''s apparently designed for a 1 ct diamond. I''ve never heard of a designer setting being so absoulte in the size diamond it will accommodate. We''re currently waiting to hear back from Beaudry if we could custom order the setting, but I''m not feeling hopeful. Has anyone else faced a similar problem? We don''t want to spend so much money to have the ring custom made from a designer, so I''m out of ideas, besides starting the entire process over again!

What size stone do you have/want? There is usually a little play in a head, but it is common for them to come in .5ct, 1.0ct, 1.5ct etc sizes. Basically you can''t manipulate prongs infinitely, and doing so makes them less structurally sound, endangering your stone.

I would be surprised if the setting only comes in the 1.0ct size, it may be that that''s what your jeweler has in stock. Sometimes its possible to change the head to one that will accommodate your stone, but on this setting the head is integrated into the shank. I would call or email Beaudry directly and see what''s up.

We are working with several jewelers because nobody had this setting in stock - they have to order it from Beaudry.

We''re thinking of about a 1.25-1.5 ct diamond. We''ve been told (by Beaudry) that the setting is made for a 1.0-1.1 ct diamond. I''ve just never heard of a setting being made for only a 1.0 ct.

Has anyone seen a similar setting for a larger diamond that they can recommend?
