when you come to a STOP sign?

i always get mad at my daughter when she makes one of those rolling stops.

Hardly ever! It''s frowned upon to come to a complete stop where I come from.

But, if it''s someone else''s turn to go through the intersection before me, of course I stop completely and wait.

I stop completely.

I am a rules-freak, and I feel guilty if I don''t stop completely.

Hmmm. Definitely if there is a cop nearby.

I don''t always make a complete stop, but I always stop enough to check no one is coming. One thing I will toot my own horn on is my driving skills. I am a very good driver.

After my $118 moving violation ticket...yes.

Yes, ALWAYS. I grew up with my dad telling me, "The stupidest ticket you can get is running a stop sign. You''re already slowing down, why not just stop?!?"

$118 is cheap.

that''s almost like paying for a parking ticket out here in Ca.

Full stop for me. There are some crazy cabbies in the city, you just don''t know what they''ll do.

Yes. And my 16 year-old daughter yells at me! (I was responding to your posting, Dancing Fire.) She also hates my response to orange lights ;-).

Like ED5, I am also a rules girl, it would drive my crazy to not stop. My husband however, is famous for the "california stop", needless to say I usually drive.

Car, yes, complete stop. Motorcycle, rolling stop so I don''t have to put feet down whenever possible.

90% of the time.
The exception is when I am turning onto a busy road from a side street and the traffic is clear.
Coming to a complete stop would mean missing the opening in traffic.

Cops around here will not generally ticket for that.

What they will ticket is rolling stops on secondary streets and 4 way stops.

Of course, always. I can only control my actions behind the wheel...no one elses....so I make an effort to drive as safely as possible to avoid accidents--defensive driving is what we called it in Drivers Ed.

It depends on where the stop sign is and how well I can see around me. In parking lots where I know there are no cars coming I''ll roll.

Depends on where I am. In my neighborhood where there''s little traffic, nah. In busier area or areas where''s there''s not good visibility, yes.

I grew up in the country and there was this stop sign we all rolled thru. My freshman year of HS, my step dad was driving us to school. We were late, he was in his bathrobe and we rolled thru it like always. Wouldn''t you know it, there was a cop sitting in the parking lot of the church that was at that intersection. We got pulled over, can''t remember if we got a ticket. It was truly the middle of nowhere, figures a cop would be there right at that moment!

Usually I do, but since I drive a manual.... I have been known to roll through them at times.

I''ll have to remember that one for my kids, its a good point.

I''d like to say that I do make a complete stop more often than not , but its about 50/50 especially in an area I"m familiar with, not really, but in an area I"m not, definitely its a complete stop.

Okay, story time! I failed my driving test the first time I took it because the test administrator said that I made a "Hollywood Stop." According to him, it isn''t a full stop unless you''re completely immobile for a full three seconds, so basically, I failed the test for stopping but not staying stopped long enough. My younger brother failed the test for the exact same reason (he had the same test administrator). When I went back the next week to retake the test, I got lucky and didn''t get stuck with the Stop Nazi again. I am now LEGEND at the DMV in the small town where I live because, when I pulled up to the stop sign on the road test THIS time, not only did I come to a complete stop, but I turned to the test admin, slowly counted to three, then said "Take THAT, other road test guy!" and fluffed my hair in the mirror before continuing the test. She laughed through the entire rest of the road test, I passed with a perfect score, and my brother and I both shoot a bird at the DMV for our special friend every time we drive by, haha (note that nobody can see us when we do this--it''s just for our own personal giggle!).

I''m a rolling stopper!

Always stop.

Most of the time... I do agree that it partially depend on traffic- it does stink to have to wait 5 mins for another hole to open, but most of the time yes- I have a digital speedometer, so its easy to tell if I made a full stop :-D

Always. I received a ticket once, for not doing so.

I try to always make a complete stop. It''s hard though when I can see that the intersection is totally clear.

Always. I''m proud to say that I''ve never received a traffic ticket in my life.

Depends. I do more than anyone else I know
3.gif
but even that''s not complete most of the time.

ALWAYS. No matter what.

My dad always said: A stop sign is not a "SUGGESTION", it''s a LAW.

LOL! Me too. Even when no one is anywhere near me.

Yes, Always. It annoys the heck out of me when people do rolling stops. The most annoying thing is when they go full speed pass the stop sign before even slowing down. Maybe it''s an LA thing.

In the midwest, yes. In California, no. That''s why they''re called California Stops or Hollywood Stops.

If no one is coming, I cruise on through!
