I know alot of people in the Bay Area like Nancy Stacy in Walnut Creek. Has anyone gone to Carole Richbourg in Los Altos?

Can anyone recommend any other appraisers in the Bay Area?

I looked at the list. Wasn''t really over enthused with anyone on it. Sent mine to Neil Beaty. Just a preference thing. I ''know'' Neil, and like his thoughtful posts. And wanted that connection for my appraisal. Probably odd, but well, it''s the truth.

Gypsy, since Neil Beaty is in Colorado, and you are in the Bay Area? Did you get to see the stone/ring yourself? I too would like to look at a bit more appraisers here in the west coast/bay area/san francisco.

Yes I live in the East Bay. Nancy is 45 minutes from my house. I preferred Neil. In Colorado. I LIKE Neil, I trust Neil, I wanted Neil to do my appraisal. I sent my ring to him for the appraisal, which he sent to me, and I sent into update my insurance policy with. Then the diamond only went to the Ocean Pearlman who is designing my setting, and it will be sent back to Neil, for another updated apprasial after my ring is re-set, thig time in a custom platinum setting. And Neil will send my my original setting, and the completed ring, along with the appraisal once the entire process is complete. He gave me a total and complete appraisal of my stone once unmounted, documenting it''s exact properties, and my appraisal will be bullet proof as a result. I was very happy with everything he provided and he went above and beyond for me, he really did. In a couple of years, when my appraisal needs another update, I''ll be sending it right back to him, too.

Horatio, are you talking about having a stone/ring sent to an appraiser to look at before you commit to purchasing? If so, then yes, it would make sense to send it to someone nearby so that you could also look at it as well.

Firegoddess, yes, looking to ship it to an appraiser for both appraisal and/or get a second opinion. But like gypsy, I prefer some of the appraisers mentioned here in the board, no just for appraiser services but for all the toys and tools they use to tell me about my diamond.

Not saying that anything about Nancy Stacy, but just don''t know much about her other than people saying she''s "good" and professional. She too is not far from San Francisco. Thanks Gypsy, i''ll be doing pretty much the same thing you are doing, only I will buy the rock and diamond from the same place.

I know it''s going to be sight unseen, but i have to rely on the vendor and the appraiser, crossing my fingers and hope it all works out....sigh...

Just bought the wedding bands right now.
