Bath anyone?

Have you tried Dr Teals eucalyptus and spearmint? I tried it once bc they were out of lavender and like it better. I love a good soak while listening to The History Chicks podcast.

Updating this thread. Thank you @kgizo for recommending Eucalyptus salts. I’m adding them in addition to the Dead Sea salt, Epsom salt etc. and it’s amazing. Smells heavenly. Soaking right now. Ahhhhh this is the life.

My infant dictator and husband are the only ones who get to bathe regularly these days lol...hubs mentioned something about wine this weekend so maybe I can toss some salt in, drink some wine and soak #heaven

Hi

I'm a shower person too but my fiancée made me a bath with candles, diffuser (lavender) and a yummy tapas platter after working overtime a couple of weeks ago. It was heavenly! He's done it again not long after that with a new rose bath foamy gel thingy :kiss2: I'll try and take a bath more often, it's really relaxing but summer is coming soon so I'll have to hurry up

From one shower person to another let me tell you I see the light. Heavenly indeed. I am for sure a shower person for efficient cleanup and shampooing my hair but a bath for afterwards is super relaxing/detoxing. And to address your seasonal concern...I love a good summer bath. After being outside and active all day long in the warm temps there is nothing sweeter and cooler than relaxing in a warm tub filled with epsom salts, lavender salts, eucalyptus salts etc. A warm bath cools you and lowers your body temp after the bath...something to consider. You are so lucky your summer is coming. Enjoy!

Funny thing: I've heard of baths in summer time many times before, same with drinking hot tea on a hot day but it doesn't seem to work for me? I always feel warm/hot after a shower or drinking tea! When I have a hot shower before I walk to work on a cold day, I feel like my body temperature is higher and therefore can't feel much of the cold outside (if that makes sense?). Almost like the shower raises rather than lowers body temp. But I'll try again this summer, maybe I can "train" my body. I love tea as well but don't drink as much of it during summer.

You know what? I actually like the cold! But I think that all seasons have their charm, change makes life fun. After winter it's a nice thought to be able to enjoy summer soon (it's still pretty cold here).
Thanks and I think you're lucky your winter is coming, enjoy ;)2

I used to love the cold (still love the change of seasons but my body not so much) but now I find I cannot physically tolerate it. I develop ulceration on my extremities despite wearing warm warm gloves even with heaters in them. So I am not so much looking forward to the colder weather because I generally have to stay inside but hoping somehow this winter I will be able to better tolerate the weather.

However, I doubt we will ever move from the Northeast because both my dh and I just adore the seasons. The autumn leaves and crisp fall air and amazing sunsets and sunrises unlike any other season IMO. The lovely beautiful Spring with its flowers and fresh pretty smells. Everything growing and starting anew. A fresh beginning. The winter with its breathtaking (literally lol) snow and clear cold days and quiet pristine streets (before the snow gets filthy that is). And the warm warm air of summer with its long days filled with endless possibilities and shorter nights. The memory of having all that wonderful free time in summer when we were children and the fun we would have. The cool ocean water feel when first going in at the beginning of the season. The smell of the beach and the feel of the sand beneath our toes squishing the sand between our toes as we walk. Nope I would hate to not experience the seasons despite my recent temperature intolerances. The seasons offer us so much.

As for being hot when drinking hot liquids/bathing in hot water etc yes for sure if they are too hot. Make sure the bath water is warm but not super hot and I also stay in it for at least 40 minutes...that might give my body time to acclimate. I know when I take a quick hot shower I am hot for a long while afterwards. I think the time one stays in the water and the temp of the water has much to do with acclimating and cooling down.

I loveeeee and have always loved taking a bath, although ive never taken them to get clean, they're always just for relaxation.

I personally love to make it like a little pampering session and will put on a face mask- I love all natural ingredients for those like; honey, milk, avocado, (teensy bit of) turmeric, rice powder/pearl powder, green/red/gray clays and ill mix them myself. I also put it on my neck and upper chest where my skin is sensitive. Then ill put in my favorite essential oil straight into the bath, just a few drops OR will also just mix milk and honey and put it in while the water is running hot.
Salts are great! My favorite is Himalayan pink salt but Epsom salt is like a Xanax for your muscles! I also love prepared bath salts with sea weed powder, I always find them in little packets for a few dollars at my natural grocers.
Oh! And I always try to dry brush my body before getting into the bath as it reves up your lymphatic system and is great for circulation.
Then just soak and enjoy (: sometimes I close my eyes and others ill watch a show....but I'm one of the few that trust myself and my little wooden tub shelf with my laptop! Haha
After if I'm not too tired I will use the left over water and sit on the edge of the tub and get off the dead skin from my feet and then dry and paint my toes (:
After theyre dry I like to moisturize my whole body with my favorite oil- as it resembles most closely the natural sebum that our body produces- jojoba oil.

It always feels like a therapy session for my skin!

@missy I have no idea of how severe it is but I do hope you'll have a wonderful winter and can enjoy (some of) it outside too! Have you tried anything like this:
https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/75661/hot-hands-hand-warmers-2-pack
How do you cope in summer?

Yes, exactly all that you've said about seasons. Absolutely agree! Where do you live?
I'm from Europe and I loved the seasons there. In Queensland/Northern Territory it's mostly warm or hot and in New South Wales/Victoria/South Australia/Western Australia/Tasmania we have different seasons. We moved to NSW last year and have enjoyed having different temperatures again. I really enjoy living in Australia but do sometimes miss the European weather (among other things).

That makes total sense, I'll have to try a longer, warm bath when it heats up. And yes, I don't have 40 min showers in the morning and I'm definitely hot for a while. Although with the tea thing, I've been told that hot tea cools you down during hot weather but I've never experienced that

Thanks @LetLoveRule for the link and yes I use something similar. Costco carries them too. I'm in NYC and the Jersey Shore in the US. I love both locations but if I could I would love to see what living in Northern California is like...I love it there and they sort of have a change of seasons.

In the summer we have AC and on the bike my dh rigged up a fan under the spf canopy he built me. And I use water and pour it on my legs as we are cycling. We also get out super early while it is more tolerable temp wise so we are able to cycle even during the hottest days. We leave at 5AM LOL and are back before 11AM if necessary.

I hear you on missing the seasons but enjoying where you are living now. I know there is definitely more than one location we can be happy. Anyplace where we have our loved ones is home.

Like you if I drink (or even eat) something very hot (or cold) I heat up (or feel freezing) for quite a while. I think it is related to my endocrine system/thyroid/pituitary. I am definitely not "normal" with temps. I have extreme reactions either way.

Thanks for the good wishes and same to you. Wishing us happy and healthy seasons no matter where we are and keep on enjoying those baths. :appl:

YES to all you posted. And I also use it for relaxation and therapy and not for getting clean. I always shower right before the bath. I am bathing right now lol. Just got back from a marathon bike ride and it was a windy day so we worked hard. Washed my hair and showered and now am pampering myself in an epsom and eucalyptus and dead sea salt bath with my bluetooth speaker and iPad listening to my tunes and guilty as charged because I am online haha. I find PS relaxing too so enjoying both right now.

Here's my wooden shelf my dh made for me. He isn't done with it but here it is in progress. I am using it right now.
