3.22 cts, 8.4mm. Just came today and thought I'd get opinions on it. My only concern is the depth..it's quite a bit deeper than my bezeled spinel, but I assume since others have big stones, you just get used to it?

Gotta go furniture shopping, so won't be back for a few hours!

yes, you get used to it. i'm betting it was cut deep to maintain color. shallow stones often do not have a "depth" of color.

eta: nice color for your skin tone!

Yes you can definitely get used to it  8.4mm is a good sized stone, and because of the depth it will probably sit higher than you're used to if you set it in a ring.

PRETTY...you got a good one!!!

Very pretty! As usual, much nicer than the vendor photo.

I'd say that's a good depth for that kind of cut and the type and color of stone.

Love it! Not nearly as steely as in the vendor photo. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

As an aside, I don't think I've ever seen your backyard not covered in snow.

I love Barry's cutting, and that is a nice stone. I think it would look best in yellow metal.

I saw yours on his site and thought "Oh how NICE !!!!"
You are lucky to have snagged it!
It looks beautiful on you!

eta: mine is set in yellow gold 8-)

I'm going to third that yellow gold suggestion.

I love the shape and cut, Barry's stones are always gorgeous. Thank you for taking these photos in the snow.

Very nice stone with a pretty color.

Thanks for the replies everyone! :appl: Glad you guys like it! I've looked at it about a million times since I got home and even before we left this morning. It's not the color I was expecting, based on Barry's pic which looks more frosty/silvery/seafoamy, but I really really like it a lot. In the house it looks a little more like Barry's pic, outside it's more green. The cut is of course amazing. I told Freke that if I could describe a stone as being stocky/solid/built like a tank, that's how I would describe this one!

I'd thought white metal, from Barry's pic, but now..I also am thinking yellow. First I was thinking a lotus, I thought it would fill out the setting more than some of the smaller rounds do. But..I'm wondering about this one instead. That has a longer stone in it, so maybe my cushion wouldn't work, but I do adore the setting.

Any other thoughts/ideas, would love to hear them!
