Love Affair Diamonds is having a big sale through Oct. 17th. I'd start there ... maybe end up with something in a Deco-era illusion setting to maximize size without having to sacrifice on cut or color.
hehe thx for ur answer ... was indeed meant for the diamond alone ... ^^
still urs is 1 000$ (or am i blind? xD) while the budget was set to 500€ or 650$
Let me ask you, are you open to things other than diamonds??
Your budget isnt going to get trade ideal rubies, sapphires, or emeralds... but there are other gemstones that are wearable for everyday and in your budget for nice quality.
Chrysoberyl and spinel are what I had in mind. Even some smaller yellow sapphires would fit this criteria too.
Im still going to look around for a good diamond for you, but it will be in the .3-.4 ct range.
Alternatively, if she was open to yellow, or some other colors like pink or purple, colored stone would make a bit more of an impact for your budget.
But not everyone would take a colored stone, so if shes a diamond girl, then shes a diamond girl, and i wouldnt stray from that.
In answer to the question of what I personally would do with a budget of $650? And not a coloured stone? Because my first choice would be a paIe lavender spinel! For a diamond I would go for an ideal cut modern round brilliant from one of the vendors who cherry picks or cuts for highest quality- something that despite its small size I would be excited and very proud to own. I would choose the lowest eye clean clarity, because at that size with an ideal cut you are going to see SPARKLE and not much of anything else, and I would choose the highest colour I could afford, because that pop of bright, icy white in the small size would make me happy.
I am the proud owner of this little guy- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pUAHeaq_wA and even though he is only 4.2mm-ish he feels incredibly special/valuable to me because of his impeccable cut and intense sparkle. So that is what I would want- something special. Good luck!
Currently on Rap.net there are 283 diamonds located in the United States between 0.30 cts and 0.35 cts that have G - J color and SI1 to SI2 clarity with GIA XXX cut grades. Pricing with typical Internet markup is from $435 to $675 (I added a slight fudge factor to your request)
Granted, the GIA Ex cut grade means little by itself, but someone of your choosing should be able to winnow through those diamonds and pick one for you that is well cut. You should probably be able to find one that is slightly below your budget and that is very beautiful, depending on your color tolerance.
hey,
i rly like those wf diamonds... actually i have bee looking at them myself already.
especially the aca, even tho they are fairly similar but since they are pretty similar and cost litterly the same id tend to the aca just in case^^
the thing tho is that it is quiet a bit smaller, then the one i picked and mine also has pretty much identical stats, just no images sadly.
the biggest probem i would have with wf tho is the fact that the type of settng i want is only available at zoara ( for a reasonable price)
soi tend to get it from there and wuld also prefer to get thediamond there too since otherwise id have to go through all that trouble sending the ston around the world buying it from one place and having it set somewhere else ... do u think the aca would be worth the trouble compared to the one i posted?
thx so much already
@Wink: ill check out ur post later since i have to leave for now ... thx tho ill definately check it out
You are welcome, and please understand, the small goods are not my specialty and I am only giving you the information that you should easily find some well cut goods in these sizes. I do not have them here and am not looking to sell them, only to share information.
I was answering based on your original question about what I would want as far as a round diamond for that money, so YMMV as far as my choices being helpful for you. I have seen enough diamonds in real life to know that a K isn't going to work for me in a MRB, so I personally would go for something smaller in a higher colour than the zoara diamond OR I would go for an old european cut in a lower colour to gain some extra size like the one Circe posted earlier. I don't mind and even quite enjoy some tint in an OEC, the larger facets just "wear" the colour differently, and for me with an antique diamond the whole aged parchment/old lace kind of sensibility plays well with a GIA faint.
Have you seen GIA graded Ks in a modern round brilliant with your own eyes? If you have and you don't mind them, then there would be no reason not to go with a K to gain size.
hey, i tried searching on rap.net but couldnt find anything without registering and giving away much information about myself ... am i just too stupid to find ( and if yes tell me how to plz.... ) or isnt it possible without registration?
@Evangeline: sadly i still didnt get to look at such diamonds irl
all i did was look at many videos and photographs online, where i didnt mind the colour but i am aware that looks might be different in real life.
Rap.net is a subscription based service that will cost you more than the diamond you are looking for for a one year membership. Plus, you must prove that you are a jeweler to be able to subscribe. I was just sharing the information that the stones are readily available for your vendor of choice to get for you.
There will also be local vendors who deal with companies like Gary Write who will have those goods in tremendously well cut diamonds but at a higher price than the normal things you find readily on 100 sites.
ok thats pretty much what i thought as well ...
since the setting i want is only affordable on zoara, as i entioned above, im planning on just ordering it there together with the k coloured stone, have a look at it in person and eventuall return it if im not satisfied with it. they do offer a 90 day full return service.
You think that makes sense or would u act differently?
Please give us a link to the setting you like that is only available at one place. These people are gurus I swear, they might be able to find you a setting the same for less money, alternatively somewhere like Amcor might be able to make the same thing for less and then you have a bit more for the diamond.
wouldnt even have to be the EXACT one but just this "twisted" type ....
its listed on zoara for 367 euros / 475$
would be very happy if some1 would find somethin like that for similar or cheaper price ...
EDIT: i did find it/similar ones on other sites myself btw but they were just generally much much more expensive or if it wasnt, then the diamonds were.
Sorry, but you are looking to buy cheap and you will get a cheap ring. There are some things we just can not help you with. It is a pretty style, but making it right costs more than what you are paying for it. It will wear for a few years and need to be replaced.
thx for the help, sadly i dont quiet like the ones other then the wf setting which is quiet a bit more expensive ...
do u also think that i wont get a "quality setting" for the 367 euros?
to me that sounds ridiculous to call that setting to be "too cheap to be of quality" because to me that is a ton of money for "just" a ring.
I took another look at the setting, to see if I could come up with an alternative. This is the one you are looking at right? Catalog ID: RGNY7806-W-14
I noticed that the description said that as a minimum carat weight for the center stone it requires 0.5 ct.. Just to let you know before you order a stone that doesn't fit the setting. If the diamond is smaller, that might only work as a custom made order which could be more expensive.
thx for ur effort. I did talk to the support on zoara way back already and they ensured me that it is no problem to get that specific setting with a diamond thats smaller then 0.5ct.
i had asked them for a 0.3 i believe and they said its no problem so the 0.4 shouldnt be trouble either
i had asked different supporters even and they all said its no prob so i kind of trust them with that
