I am comtemplating on doing a bankwire instead of paying CC for a purchase of engagement from GOG of around 9k. I have heard alot of great reviews on GOG, but just concerns that there is a small percentage of possibly getting shafted. I know that CC''s like Amex have great protection and it would be alot safer. What ya''ll think?

Hi I was also nervous and I am doing mine from australia!
you have Absolutely nothing to be concerned with - there is NO WAY they will "shaft" you. My own wire I was a bit stressed as the silly girl at the bank at my end put the wrong bank on the receiving end. However i communicated to Christen at GOG and she was great, it arrived in normal time and she emailed me As Soon As they got it so I could stop stressing.
I think that says it all!

Yeah, I would have confidence in dealing with Good Old Gold and Whiteflash. Both are so well respected here that I don''t foresee any trouble. When I pay for my girlfriend''s engagement ring I''ll wire with no hesitation. Still, it''s always a good thing to check this type of thing. I know far too many people who send money blindly to any company with a website...

Hey splinter - I completely agree with you thats its always best to be cautious with this sort of thing - I''m sure many have been duped by not doing their research and sending money to fake or dodgy co''s.
For me, I''ve Never done a bankwire in my life (call them telegraphic transfers here), so the process was foreign - but not for a min was I concerned about whether my money would be received in good faith.
I think, more than GOG or WF''s reputations, there is definatley a kudos that must go to Jon and Allison''s presence on these boards, which represents a "human face" to their online stores that is so often lacking with intenet businesses.
I''m kind of rambling here, but I guess what I''m saying is Rogeshoe nor anybody else should have any concerns with GOG, WF, Wink, P''mans etc- firstly as GOG is a real business with a real life shop and real live people working in it - and I''ve seen the speed with which Jon responds to authentic concerns which are posted here - so there''s no chance of them being able to "dodge" someone.

Which brings me to my rambling conclusion - YAY for PS! For creating a place where people can feel confident in getting advice and wiring large sums of money in the absolute confidence that (forbid) anything did go wrong, the whole community would be here to back the consumer up, and the actual people that work at the business can be held accountable - whether its a good or bad review.

Hope my point wasn''t too convoluted - gotta admit I''ve had a couple wines with dinner. and was "feeling the love" he he

Thanks for the feedback guys. After reading on the many posts about GOG and you guys reconfirming. I will go ahead and to the wire transfer instead. Thanks.

A bit late, but I''ve done it twice. Once for the initial purchase a few years ago and one more this year for an upgrade.

Hi Sorry a bit late too..

I''ve also wired money, with full confidence. Actually I deposited cash into their account - I arrived too late to wire money (past 4 pm cutoff) so I withdrew cash, and crossed the street to deposit into their account. Holding that much money (mostly 20s, bank was out of 100s) in my pocket was the most nerve wracking experience ever!

GOG has been great, their expertise and customer service has been exceptional. They are also super patient and understanding. Congrats on your stone!
