has anyone had any experience with a bank transfer to good old gold? I''m kind of weary of sending a large amount of money over.

Don''t worry, they are totally reputable. Do a search on here for their name and you''ll see what a wonderful reputation they have here. We did one with Mark @ ERD and it was super easy.

Ditto Neat - no worries with GOG or any of the PS vendors.

You''ve chosen a beloved pricescope vendor -- no need to be "weary." Can''t wait to see what you''re getting!

The bank transfer system in the us is actually pretty darned secure. You give up the protections you get from the Credit Card companies, which I rather like, but in exchange you not only get a better price because bank fees are lower but you get protection from the bank fraud laws, which are REALLY tough and go up with amounts over $10k. Screwing up with a credit card account can cost a merchant some money and perhaps their future rights to accept credit cards but bank fraud is criminal and can come with jail time, possibly even a trip to Guantanamo because ‘money laundering’ falls under the jurisdiction of the Homeland Security folks. Very bad juju.

I just wired $$$$ to them today. It''s easy & plenty secure. Takes 5-10min @ the bank.

I''ve done bank wires with both whiteflash and jamesallen, and I wouldn''t hesitate to do one with GOG. You have nothing to worry about, they are very reputable!

I paid via bank wire to them and no problems went very smoooooooooooooth

I did a wire transfer to them through WaMu recently, and everything went well. I''d definitely recommend getting an account at WaMu because they have free wire transfers! I''d also recommend getting in on their online savings accounts and free checking. Both are free and the online savings has a really high rate considering the times. Did I mention they have free checks for life too? OK, sorry, but I just love WaMu! You have to open the checking account and the online savings account for things to be free, but it''s so simple and worthwhile. Maybe others can add their two cents on the matter two. I guess this has nothing to do with GOG, but I was in the same boat recently and thought I''d share my experience.

how long does the transaction take? I mean to say how long it takes for the money to leave your account to arrive at their account?

We are having problems paying them. The first time we tried, the money bounced back (we assume the teller did something wrong). We wired electronically the second time, bf didn''t call the bank right away (from lack of experience), so the transaction was canceled. Third time was done few hours ago (message said it was successful), they haven''t received it yet. bf''s bank is a US bank account.

No worries. I''ve done it. You save yourself some $$$$ by not using a credit card too.

Bank wire to any reputable company is save...

Bank Wire = Cash Transfer

think of it as paying cash at the register, but its long distance so the bank do it for you

thanks for all your replies! i will probably buy from whiteflash or goodoldgold

I work at a bank and would absolutely trust wiring money to someone, as long as I''m confident in who I''m wiring it to.
And I''m not sure if it''s all banks or just mine since we''re in Alaska, if money if wired before 12 usually it will go through to the recipient that day. If after that time it goes out the next business day.

Just like you, I had my reservations regarding bank wires. I did my first wire to GOG yesterday morning. They received the transfer this morning. The currency broker I worked with, indicated to me the wire had been successfully sent yesterday. I suppose because the wire was from Canada, GOG''s bank took a day to process the transaction. GOG contacted me the moment they received the transfer.

I assure you that you have nothing to worry about....

Hi guys

I just wired some money over to GoodOldGold.

I get every single detail , like thier bank account etc all correct.

But i stupidly wrote their address wrongly, instead of

" 5278 Sunrise highway , Massapequa Park , NY 11762 "

" Massapequa Park , NY 11762 , 5278 Sunrise Highway "

Hope that shouldn’t cause much problem as I only wrote it reverse.

Hopefully it wouldnt be too much of a problem =(

I just did the bank transfer 3 weeks ago...no worries, it''s a very fast process...only the queue at the bank is the slow process...just make sure you got all the details of the vendor and inform them once the transfer is done for them to keep a lookout for the $$$...

Hi Ejinaix - I don''t imagine this will be a problem. After all, it is the swift/routing and account numbers that dictates where your money goes.
If you''re worried, I would just write an email to GOG advising them , incase they need to tell their bank.

I''ve had various experiences with wire transfers. The first was from Wamu (Washington Mutual) to Whiteflash, no problem.

The second time was from Citibank to Whiteflash.
Nothing but a headache. We did it online then called the bank to confirm. They said no problem. Apparently it was.

The funds were held for over 36 hours and were only released after 5 calls ,and transfers to various departments. Quite the headache.

Lesson learned, never wiring from Citibank again.
