I''ve always loved the look of the floral/vine/leafy bands a la Beverley K, but I notice that every single one I find has milgrained edges. Would one of these designs look odd with a smooth finish, or is milgrain simply used to make it look more antique? While I love the look of milgrain, I don''t find it very comfortable between my fingers.

I don''t know, I''d really need to see it to say. I would imagine if you had one of each, and did a poll on who liked what best, the milligrain would win. It does go very well with this sort of design. However, if you just had a plain one, people might not realize/would think it looked great?

Hi Ebree, I don't think it would look odd if it was done right, but it would have to be done with a lot of attention to detail. Milgrain covers up a lot of flaws in finish, whereas high polish highlights them all. My MIL has a band that she inherited from her mother that is a bit similar, but with high polish, and it looks lovely.

Have you tried on the Beverly K ones? If you have and they aren't comfortable, would you consider something similar by another designer? I've tried on some milgrain that's uncomfortable and some that's just perfectly natural. I think much of it depends on the actual migrain. I know that Leon's milgrain is REALLY fine and lovely and feels very comfortable. I don't recall if the Beverly K's were comfortable or not last time I tried them on.

Thank you both! I haven''t tried one of the Bev. Ks on, but my original e-ring had pretty fine milgraining that bothered me, if I remember correctly. You make a good point about it hiding flaws, though.

I''ll try to locate a Bev. K dealer this weekend and try a few on.

It''s kinda chunky, but I just stumbled across it. http://adwar.com/products/styles/W317L/view

It looks like a very pretty ring, I think it will look great without the milgrain edge!

I have a ring of that type, although not really floral that doesn''t have milgrain, and I think it looks great. I get compliments on it all the time. Here''s a pic:

Nice ring coda, I really like it!

Thank you, Todd and gecko!

gecko, that looks sort of like a ring my mom wears that I''ve always loved. I wonder what it''d look like polished (and finished).

coda- That''s exactly what I''m talking about! Thank you for the photo. I really, really like that ring.

Hi EBree,

I found a non-millgrained viney band that looks pretty nice here: brilliant earth viney band

I''ve never dealt with brilliant earth, so I have no idea about their diamond quality or customer service, but it does seen to fit your description

I love natural looking bands too

I know that pearlmans says that you can make modifications to the beverly k line...why dont you shoot them and email and they''ll let you know if that can be done or not (and I''m pretty sure it can be done...i dont think beverly k''s milgrain is cast...although i wouldnt really know). If you ask Jason, he can photoshop the milgrain out and its very realistic looking and you can see if it looks "funny" or not to you! I hope this helps!

I was trying to think of a line that carries what you want. I remembered Hidalgo has some designs that will show you what it should look like here are a few examples:

http://www.hidalgojewelry.com/ (there are thousands of bands)

They have one that is similar to the beverly k you love, but without the milgrain. I found like 5 just in the 2001 collection (there are 8 collections).

BK certainly will make one for you w/o milgraining if that is what you want. FYI their milgraining is VERY fine and I find it very comfortable.

Thank you all so much for your advice! I''ll check into asking BK if they make rings without milgrain.

Gypsy, those Hidalgos are great for inspiration- thank you!

GREAT find Gecko. It''s stunning. I love it.
