Found in uniquesettings book. I like the 6 side graduated princess side stones 1.75X1.75 2X2 2.25X2.25 turned 90 degrees. I plan to modify the design for comfort by making the band flush with the top of the most outter stone. It would be as if it were bezeled on that one corner. The rest of the side stone would be shared prong. Is this design prone to failure? Are there other concerns that I am not seeing with this design?

Ring size 5.5
Center stone ~1.25ct
Metal type platinum

thank you

Welcome to the forums Scott,

Peter Storm link may be interesting for you, though sides are set differently.

it sounds lovely. who will you have make the ring?

There are a few things that I like better about the style of the one L/I posted from Peter Storm. The one from your photos looks very prongy. In the second on the head is a more fluid part of the ring and it does not look like it was just put down but rather was a thoughtful part of the design. And on the part of the shank that does not have diamonds I like the shape of the Peter Storm one better, lastly I like the side view of the side stones better on the second one. I do think however that your concept could be very lovely.
Do you know who you plan on asking to make it?

My concern is if you do a design such as this, is what will the wedding band look like? I think so many people on this forum focus on the e-ring too much and leave the wedding band as an afterthought. Especially if the princess stones are graduated sizes, I think it will be hard to find a band to go with it.

I echo what Pebbles said ... you need to consider the wedding band, and perhaps have it made at the same time.

I like the PETER STORM version MUCH MUCH better. Yours does seem "prong-y" and prone to get caught on stuff. The Peter Storm similar but more elegant version is very fluid & classy & practical. He may offer a similar or coordianting wedding band. I''d research that before going ahead with your version from the Unique Settings book.

Me too. Another thing to think about in the wedding band is don''t have diamonds rubbing against diamonds. They will cause damage.

thanks for the replies. Yes, i have thought about the wedding band, and it will hopefully tie into the engagment ring even with it graduated.

The side view i plan to enclose like the storm band but have a window.

My real question is: Is this setup likely to lose diamonds?
