Say you get a ring for cheap because it has like a SI-I clarity and a color of K-Z. Can the ring be fixed or is it too much to invest thats not worth it?

K is a lot different from Z. I mean, people get lots of gemstones like blue zircon that isn't worth very much and put it into amazing settings. So, if the stone is pretty, yes. Otherwise, no.

I''m not sure what you''re getting at. For starters, there''s a very wide difference between K and Z colors! There are some absolutely gorgeous K-M colored stones on this site that don''t look a bit yellow in their pictures. I wouldn''t buy a stone beyond that range unless I was specifically looking for a light yellow color. There''s nothing that can be done to change the color of a diamond (except for irradiation).

As for clarity, there are also big differences in the range you posted. There are plenty of eye clean SI1 and SI2 stones; nothing can or needs to be done to "fix" these. If a stone is not eye clean and the inclusion is at the edge, it may be able to be hidden by a prong. Beyond that, there''s only clarity enhancement, such as laser drilling or fracture filling, but I would never want a clarity enhanced stone. It can destroy the structural integrity of the diamond and just seems fake.

More info about diamond enhancement is available here. I don''t think any of this could be done to a diamond that''s already mounted. You''d have to take it out of the setting and send it loose to whoever does these things.

IMO, not worth it...you''re better off getting the diamond you want from the start.

Well, if you''ve found a well-cut "cheap" K-Z, I''d not bother with it. Give ME a call instead and I''ll relieve you of it for what you paid for it. If it was "cheap".

Chalk me up as an "any color is fine with me as long as the cut is good" girl.... An nice M-P stone any day. Mmmm!!!

I pretty much love ''em all though....

Yeah ditto, what do you mean by fixed? Need more info I''m afraid..

As to whether it is worth '' investing'', it entirely depends on you if the diamond/s are to your liking. Do you mean the ring needs repairing or remodelling?
