Backyard improvement project

I wanted to share the improvements that we made to our backyard this summer. First is an extension to our patio with a kiva fireplace and a hot tub. We live in the southwestern US so everything is stucco.

Next is our outdoor barbecue area.

We added a stucco storage building with a tile roof to match the house in one corner of the yard and my husband put in his own synthetic putting green!

Lastly we put in a wall fountain. It is nice to have the sound of water back there.

Sundial it looks incredible! I can''t have anything like that here in England...

oh and PS as a gardener, you need some color back there girl...like roses!!

that covering trellis would be fab with a potato vine or similar climbing up it as well!!

Thanks Lorelei! But in England it is SO green and pretty. It is very dry here and we have to put in sprinkler systems just to keep the grass alive!!!

We do have a pretty big yard, our lot is almost 1/2 an acre which is good-sized for in town. You are right about the color. Unfortunately the rose garden and an old patio with a wood cover that had trumpet and grape vines growing up over it were sacrificed in the making of these improvements. The vines were messy though and attracted bees. I don't know if vines will grow up these new plastic patio covers. I am thinking about adding some big pots with flowers.

Hey Belle thanks! Now we just have to make sure the fireplace actually works!!! The stucco is from El Rey and the color is Palamino. The house is the same, but it is not synthetic. They match really well though and we were able to match the roof tiles as well.

Thank you Lili. My husband did parts of the project. We used contractors to build the storage building, walls, fireplace, and cooking island. Professionals also laid the tile flooring on the patio and installed the fountain. Hubby did the pavers around the fountain, put in the putting green, and with a helper put up the slatted patio covers. He ordered those off the internet and they are a no-maintenance PVC like plastic.
