Back with another cushion cut!

Since returning the 1.82ct cushion (see here), I've been on the lookout for the perfect stone.

I spotted this diamond yesterday and decided to order it to see it in person! It's a 1.20 I SI1. Ideal Light Performance :]


Here's the ASET


I seriously questioned whether or not it was eye clean because it's pretty obvious in the close up, and was told that it was from about 12 inches away. However, when I got it in today, I was going cross eyed trying to find the inclusion. Until my boyfriend pointed it out to me - why he thought that was a good idea who knows. But I can still only see it with one eye closed and pretty close to my face. So really doesn't bother me.

It's weird for me to go from that almost 2 carat rock to downsize to this one, but I'll be getting the setting I want (don't wanna go down that road again). Don't think I'd get anything bigger at our price point, I've been looking for months. And I think this one's really beautiful.

Side note: I'm also considering another stone that's pretty much the exact same size, also an SI1, except it's an H color. And a couple hundred more. It's from the vendor who will be making the setting though.

Anyways, what do you all think of it? These are all just cell phone shots in pretty crappy lighting but it's the best I could do today.

Not an expert on evaluating, but you should get images and an ASET for the H stone before you make your decision. A couple hundred isn't much, and you'll save yourself the setting fee and insurance that you'll need to get if you decide on this I colored stone (I assume it's from a different vendor than where you're getting the settings?).

It's a big purchase, just want you to make sure you've evaluated all your options!

+1. Get the specs as Sortmon says above, so you can accurately evaluate 1 to the other. Hate for you to think "oh, if only I'd...." and not end up loving this diamond by always wondering about the other one.

A little investment in time now will be worth it in the end. And if it is the other stone you pick, a few hundred is nothing in the overall scheme of things. This is your ering - it will be with you for a VERY LONG time!

This seems uber dirty to me even on your hand. Why was the 1.82 returned? It seemed perfect for you. I'm not a fan of this stone.

You are referring to the 1.20 when you say it looks "uber dirty"? Or talking about the last ASET image I posted? Alittle confused because that it what you quoted. You're not a fan of which one?

The 1.82 was returned because it was perfect for me in terms of size, but it didn't go with the setting I wanted. That was the whole dilemma. The K was not warm enough to make a purposeful looking contrast and not white enough so there was no contrast (if I went with the setting I want). On it's own, it was great.

I'm not a fan of the 1.2 because yes, it's a bit too dirty for me....You could have had a custom setting made to enhance the color of that other stone, and in the mean time worn it as a solitaire....

Hmm I guess I'm just not seeing what you are in terms of it being dirty. And I went through all of my options with the other stone. I no longer have it so now trying to focus on finding something else. Thanks for your thoughts though

Its beautiful and i love the shape. I love the 1.82, but I like larger diamonds, so that might be the reason I like it a smidge better than this one.

I can't remember if it was you who wanted the HW inspired halo? But if so, I have an L cushion in a HW inspired halo. I have i/j colored stones in the halo and shank to avoid the contrast of the F/G stones against the warmer diamond. I love the way it turned out. Please forgive me, if I am confusing you with someone else.

That is a beautiful stone. To me the ASET is much better than the H color stone.

Yes that was me wanting the HW halo. We went back and forth with the decision for months and returned the K color. Trying to find the best option at I color or better now. I do miss the size but the halo should help.

I truly believe this diamond is very nice with a good aset. To me, it's better than the other two JA diamonds recommended.

I am trying to decide between the 1.2ct Canera Antique Cushion (that I already have - first picture posted in this thread) and this 1.28 H SI1 cushion (eye clean). Which do you all like better? Size difference is pretty negligible.

If the photos seem dirty, its prob just oil from the fingers? That shouldn't be a reason to rule out a diamond??? Am I missing something else?

I think the first one you posted is fine. This last one's inclusions look like they might be bothersome down the road if you keep staring at it all day, everyday. Would it be "mind clean" to you? Are all the stats besides the dimensions approx the same?

I didn't understand the dirty comments either; it is a very well cut diamond. And they are cell phone pics.

Anyways, good point about the mind clean issue for the 1.28.

Didn't get too many responses on this one, but I'm happy to say that we've decided to keep this Canera cushion! I really love it and am happy to finally have made a decision after months and months of looking for a stone and having to go through returning a different one. It will be shipped off sometime in the near future to ERD to be made into a ring with my favorite setting :] Exciting!
