I apologize for re-opening an old discussion, but when I looked back at the discussion thread I didn''t see that there was any resolution regarding the location of an EDL (European Diamond Lab?). I am trying to sell a very beautiful platinum wedding ring set but unfortunately the original jeweler''s appraisal indicates that the diamond has an EDL certificate. Is there any way for me to obtain a copy of the certificate (I have the number), or should I simply give up and have the set appraised by a third party? Thanks for you help!

I''ve never heard of EDL (European Diamond Lab), but by chance do you mean EGL, European Gemological Laboratory? If so, it is a franchise laboratory with each location being operated separately - you would need to know the lab report number and which laboratory graded the diamond and the odds are that they will not re-issue a lab report without re-grading the diamond - at least this is the policy of the GIA and AGS laboratories.

You can get the diamond re certed yourself, it is not that expensive. ETA By another lab I mean, I too have not heard of EDL.
