Congratulations, Pandora. I have been waiting with bated breath to see your dress since you first posted about it, and let me tell you, it does NOT disappoint! My darling 91 year-old grandmother was able to make it and had a wonderful time. My mother was also there, but in a wheelchair and on a lot of diamorphine. She enjoyed herself a lot, but sadly I won't have any photos of us together as she didn't want any taken.

My other grandmother and witch of an aunt excelled themselves with bitchy comments - as my brother said though, if they'd liked it it would have been an awful wedding.

Classics were:

Aunt, having scrunched the fabric of my dress: 'well, you've got your new sitting-room curtains sorted there haven't you'.

Grandmother: Isn't it a shame that the colour of the flower-girls dresses didn't work dear?

She also hated the ceremony, the readings and the music.

Personally I just don't care, we had a wedding that was very us and personal and had a wonderful time. She would have prefered a traditional tick box church wedding - which was what my aunt's son had in May.

Pandora, I''ve got to tell you that everything turned out fabulous... but that your dress just steals the show (and you in it). WOW woman!!! Your gown is the single most amazing wedding gown I have seen the fabric, the style, the execution!!! OMG, It''s all just so incredible. The tiredness begins to show... I went to bed at 4.15am and was up at 7am to finish the flowers.

Ginger beer by the way. I didn't dare drink any alcohol as it can give me a vicious migraine. I ended up getting one anyway, but had brought the tablets and managed to scare it off in the first 20 minutes. I did have some Champagne with the speeches though.

DH's speech was about 15 minutes and reduced me and quite a lot of the guests to tears. UK speeches are long and with my father's and the Best Man's, it was the best part of an hour. It's the only part I'm really sad I don't have a video of. I have a written copy of DHs, but neither my father nor the BestMan wrote theirs out in full. The time goes so fast and I'd have loved to read them again now.

Actually, I think those comments are hilarious given the context and the level of bitchiness! You''ll be laughing over those for years and years..

Pandora, I cant remember for sure, but I thought it was you...Didn''t someone on your hubby''s side have a psycho wife who was put away temporarily and you were hoping wouldn''t be released in time for the wedding? Was she there and did she behave herself?

Priceless aren't they!

The psycho wife is indeed one of ours. She is now on stacks of medication and hugely improved in every way. She was exceptionally well-behaved as were her children. Although her son was caught snogging one of my 17 year-old cousins!

My niece was quite entertaining and well-behaved for a 3 year old.

She caught one of DH's brothers lying under a bush kissing his girlfriend. Rushed up and shouted 'Wake-up Sleeping Beauty' in the poor girl's ear. She then looked at DH's brother and very sternly told him to: 'Go on, kiss your princess!'.

Venue witch was there on the Friday whilst I was doing the flowers and kept well away from me. She did make a few bitchy comments when I was out of the room in front of my friend from Italy. She's actually English, but it can be useful to speak Italian when we don't want to be understood by everyone and the witch had only heard us speaking Italian together and presumed that my friend didn't speak English...

The rest of the staff made it very obvious what they thought about her and when I went to meet the officiant the day before she said that she presumed that X would be there. I said no X would not as I'd had her removed from my event. Everyone in the office looked up and the officiant'e expression told me all I needed to know!

The girl who ran things on the day was truly wonderful, efficient and completely invisible 99% of the time. I am extremely grateful to her.

The other thing that horrified my Aunt and Grandmother was DH and I leaving in one of the school minibuses at the end of the night with all our friends! I hope someone has a photo of their faces as we all drove off!

thanks so much for posting a close up of the center cloth - it is beautiful. i had no idea that they do that with heat. how interesting. I can''t believe that your dress ended up being cheaper than what you would pay in a bridal shop! usually having something custom made is more expensive. so you really got the best of both worlds!

I find it absolutely fantastic that you not only put such consideration into your dress but that the corset underneath was also traditional (even though no one else gets to see it) and that the tiara and flowers for the girls also had a lot of research and personal touch go into them.

I have recently been watching The Tudors (absolutely love the series) and your dress did remind me of the show. but apparently the show takes place when the Middle Ages were coming to an end. I want to get Anne Boleyn''s "B necklace."

my new surname will start with a "B" so it would actually make sense for me to wear it, but I don''t think I will at my actual wedding. but I do plan to once I "officially" can.

LOL, my dressmaker and I were practically glued to that series looking at how things were put together.

It''s horribly incorrect historically, and there are all sorts of errors like modern radiators and TV aerials in some of the scenes! The clothes are also a modern twist on tudor - which is what I was aiming for.

It is a fun series, but it drives me made when they get the history wrong as TV is such a good educational medium. Series 2 started here last night!

I''m sure the B necklace could b recreated. A UK company called Past Times may well have done one as they produce replicas of a lot of important jewels and that is a very famous piece.

The corset is an incredible feat of engineering - although not very beautiful. It''s in calico as we needed a fabric that would be strong, not stretch too much and was a natural fibre. My brother had me holding onto a beam in my parents house while he laced me in, so you can imagine how tight it was!

I can''t believe the cost either. Mary, the dressmaker, took hundreds of measurements, we fitted 3 toiles and it was mm perfect in fit. Getting my arms in the sleeves was an interesting process! I didn''t get to try the final dress on until the day as the fabric arrived very late (the designer wasn''t happy with the first attempt and it had to be re-woven) and Mary was going on holiday so we had time to do a first and final fitting of the actual dress. She then made adjustments overnight and I picked it up. I couldn''t try it on at all as I didn''t have anyone who could put me into it... made for a lovely suprise on the day though!

My parents don''t have a full-length mirror either, so the first time I saw the whole dress was just before I took it off that evening in the hotel.

Funny you mention this! As I was looking your pictures, I thought him to appear to be a fun, sweet and all around nice person.
