We had a fantastic day and are just so, so happy.

Here are a few photos that friends put up on Facebook for us...

Me and my daddy walking up the aisle. DH thought he wasn''t supposed to look at me and I was looking everywhere for him and couldn''t see him at all. I was 15 minutes late and petrified he''d done a runner!

Thank you. I designed the dress myself and found a girl in London who specialised in historical corsetry to make it. She was 26 and did an amazing job.

The fabric was designed and made for me by the father of my eldest flowergirl. He''s the head of design for Roberto Cavalli.

Thanks!

I designed the girls dresses myself together with the eldest BM (she''s 11) - they''re cotton voile over cotton lawn (dyed French Lavender in my washing machine!) and my mother made the 3 little ones, and the eldest BM''s dress was made by her granny. I did them in different lengths so the eldest would have the most grown-up looking.

It was a modern twist on tudor - 1520ish, when they still had the straight sleeves. DH came up with the idea. I bought every book on the market on tudor and medieval dress and it was 9 months in the planning.

The corset underneath is 100% historically correct - my brother had to put me into it as he's an expert on corset lacing (his FI wears them a lot!). It was rock solid, but very comfortable.

The centre fabric was metallic gold and white silk. The fabric was then heat-stamped which gave it a quilted effect.

The sleeves and the neckline were all edged with seed pearls and cultured pearls. My father made necklaces for the little girls out of the leftover seed pearls.

The tiara is a 1923 orange-blossom tiara made of wax. The veil is from 1880 and is handmade congleton lace.

The wreaths the little girls are wearing are made from victorian velvet flowers. The petals are heat-stamped and then made up with tiny pearl centres into flowers on wires. I twisted them all together and wrapped ribbon round so the ends didn't scratch. They were a very lucky find in an old antique shop near my parents. I had just enough for 4.

Your dress is amazing and the fabric is fantastic. You did an amazing job tying all of the finer details together, as your dress, necklace and tiara worked very well together. Do you happen to have any pictures of your tiara; I would love to see the detail.

From the few pictures you have been able to post, it looks like you and DH had a fantastic day!

Close-up

Congleton is a tiny English village that was famous for it's lace-making. It's a tambour lace where the design is threaded into a net background. It's in a fine cotton and I'm terrified of tearing it.

I didn't want to sew it, so I just made a loop of flat elastic and knotted it round so it hung down either side. I then stuck the elastic into alternative teeth on a comb. It held securely and I didn't have to worry about tearing it, so sewing it.

It's not a family piece, I bought it last year, but I hope it will become one.
