Home baby shower gift advice?

My friends are holding a joint baby shower. One of the girls is a friend that I actually know, who is having a little boy. The other is a girl I don''t know at all, but SO knew in school, and is having a girl. What do you do in this case where you don''t know one person. I doubt SO will go to the shower, but we''re invited, and I''m helping with some planning. What should I do gift wise? I''m thinking of doing some cute little gift bags with pappies, a cute plush animal and a blanket? maybe?

If you do a search lots of threads with good ideas will show up. I think it would be strange is you spend a lot more on one girl than the other. I would advise spending the same but when your friend''s baby is born (people usually give another gift) buy her something more special.

Those gift bags sound perfect. Generally I spend $25 on aquaintances but with a joint shower, spending a bit less overall seems acceptable, but still spending the same on both would work well.

Have either ladies registered at Baby's R Us? I think you can check online on their site.

I love gift giving...and esspecially for babies (uh, I die!)

I''ve included the link to a cute little store I shop at often....it''s called Saraboo Creek--really cute store, btw--they do these really beautiful, glittery, colorful custom signs that are really affordable, but absolutely adorable.

What if you had two made...saying "The Baby Is Sleeping"or something sweet like those little rhymes "sugar and spice and everything nice is what little girls are made of.." and "snips and snail and puppy dog tails are what little boys are made of"...one in blue, one in pink? A little something the mom could hang on their door, or over the crib.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! I definitely want it to be even between the two girls, SO Does know them after all and I want it to be thoughtful! I''ll go look at the website, and check the registries (though I don''t know if they''d think of it)

i give gift certificates to the picture people or kiddie kandids....everyone i''ve given them to has really loved the idea because you wind up spending so much getting pro pics taken for the holidays or birthdays.
