I see the term "B&M" regularly used here. What does it stand for? I presume it refers to local jewellery retailers but it''s not an abbreviation used in my country (Australia).

Hi Stepmars
It stands for "Bricks and Mortar" Its lighthearted term used to describe traditional jewellery stores as apposed to Internet vendors.
It don’t think it really applies in Australia as the Internet vendors here usually offer face to face viewing as an option.
