I was speaking with a B&M jeweler here in Boston today because I wanted to see if they might be able to help me in my search for a ring. The jeweler asked me if I had found a diamond yet, I mentioned to her that I had indeed found a stone and I gave her the specs, which are as follows...The specs on the diamond that Mark found are as follows....
It is a 1.18ct. G SI1. It has an extremely small bowtie. The SI1 is under the table but is very eye clean. The ratio is 1.32. The cost of the diamond is $4,650.00.
Other things...Oval Brilliant, 8.05 x 6.10 x 3.57,...VG polish and VG symm, faint flor, depth 61.5 and table 63
Everyone that I have spoken with has agreed that this is a great stone and they could not find me anything better. However, the B&M jeweler said that this was not a good stone because the table is larger than the depth and this will reflect light as well. What are your thoughts on this? I figured she was just trying to convince me not to go with the online stone.
Also, I am thinking about possibly going bigger on the stone, or possibly going down to an H or I color. I have been searching for a comparable stone that is around the same price or lower that has similar qualities, but I have yet to find anything. If anyone out there can find me one, it would be greatly appreciated. My budget for the stone is no more than $4,650 and I would like something 1.1 and 1.4 carats.
Thanks everyone, hopefully after I hear back from the online jeweler about custom making my ring for me, I will be able to make the big purchase!
