This is a local jewelry store and I''ve heard their ads on the radio regarding this. I wonder how close in price they could get with the likes of the popular PS vendors. I''ve been into their stores before and they have a good selection of ideal (not H&A) AGS stones, but the prices are ridiculously high. I paid a little over $1100 for my AGS .56 J VS2 ACA from WF (can I possible get more abbreviations in there LOL). This B&M would charge several hundred dolllars more for the same specs, non H&A stone. I highly doubt they could match my ACA. They also claim (I don''t know if they still do, this was a few years ago) that their non-branded AGS ideals were the same thing as HOF. Uhhhh....NO. I don''t think they are trying to deceive customers. I just don''t think they understand what HOF really is.

They have a couple different levels of quality for their diamonds. Their .50ct stones in the highest level that aren''t lab graded and are poorly cut run about $1200. I noticed that they only put the lower level prices on their site, probably to make them more in line with online vendors. They don''t provide any info on the diamonds either: "Day''s 1/2 carat enchantment diamonds are guaranteed to meet the following standards: 1) The diamond color will be a GIA color grade of I/J or better. 2) The diamond clarity will be GIA clarity grade of I1 or better. 3) The diamond weight will be between .47 and .56 carat."

If they truly want to compete, they need to do a LOT better than this.

Non-branded AGS Ideal stones basically are the same thing as HOF stones. All HOF stones are are super ideals as far as I know...

Yea, my understanding is that HOF is not a particular faceting type patented cut but just a regular ole modern RB ideal cut with super ideal symmetery(hearts and arrows patterning) cut by there paid staff of cutters, who I bet are all pretty damned good but a final product is a final product and if they are the same then thats the case you know?

Also, I think its pretty reasonable for them to say that diamonds come I1 or better, at least we know they arent going to sell customers diamonds that are lower than I1 (meaning that they do have some sortof moral stance:) and that there are plenty of options higher than that, of course.

I didnt see anyting about pricing though, on their loose diamonds, but I do know that the average online customer waits about 2 seconds for a page to load before the company looses that sale and he/she moves on to a different site...so I really dont think this whole "call us and find out about the prices!" without leaving anything to wet ones apetite tactic is going to do anything for them at all. I think the vast majority of consumer will click on the loose diamond inventory, see nothing, give it about 2 seconds and leave.

but whatever

maybe they will make enough off it to pay for the site, and thats what counts eh.

It was my understanding that HOF was H&A''s, whereas this jeweler''s were ideally cut...NOT H&A''s. This jeweler said theirs were not H&A''s, but were the same as HOF (which a competing store sells locally).

I don't think this jewelers stones are the same thing. Yes, they are ideally cut, but are not H&A like HOF is, so I think they are misleading the customer, but I don't believe that it's intentional.

I think it is good that they give a range for color and clarity, but if you purchased a diamond through their website, all the info the customer has that range. You can't go through and pick a .56 G VS1. You get what they send you. You could be getting a great deal, or a .47 J I1 that is heavily included for the same price.
