Awesome or what?

I LOVE the diamond.. I always wanted a 2ct, but am not willing to sacrifice too much on color/clarity/cut. I''d rather have a stunning smaller diamond than a large blob on my finger..

Here are the specs, I''m pretty satisfied with the HCA report I just ran on it

1.71 Round Brilliant
(Tolkowsky, hearts and arrows)

7.62 x 7.58 x 4.78

EGL VSF,F
Depth 62.9%
Width 57%
Crwn H. 16%
Pavilian 43%
Grain - nil
Culet - none
very slight blue flour..

The jeweler worked really hard on getting me the best deal.. 12,500 sound ok? He''s been a family friend forever.. (it better be a good deal)

Do you have the crown angle for HCA? It's on the deep side. Also which EGL is it? I ask because they are soft on grading sometimes, especially if it isn't USA. So you want to make sure if you paid for an F VS2 that you didn't get an H Si1 or something like that.

I think this is a non USA as those proportions are used by a lesser known EGL lab, it will come to me as to which one.

So you think a 7.6mm is not the size a 1.7ct should show up?

My diamond is 1.63 and is exactly 7.6mm. Mine is around 61% in depth. It is best to stay at 60-62 in depth.

You need to understand that EGL can be soft on grading and that the stone is unlikely to be F color. It may be a very nice stone, but I would absolutely require an unconditional return period so I could get an independent appraisal and know for sure what I was really getting.

HI:

It's in the ballpark; but I'd be more concerned that the color and clarity, if independently appraised, would be different than what EGL has stated. Don't pay for something that you are not receiving.

You've stated you love the diamond--that is a great thing!

yup, if the report say "Tolkowsky" it is most likely EGL Europe.

Her stone is 7.58x 7.62 and the WF stone is 7.66 x 7.68 with a depth of 61.6. Their other 1.7 I VS2 is 7.71 x 7.73 with a depth of 61.2. I''d still choose the one that is 7.7mm just for the principle of the thing.

Even thought it has an I color, and is about 3 thousand dollars more?

I am not convinced that .17 millimeters is worth it??

HI:

You love the stone--good for you! But I'd have it appraised by another source anyway, you'll need it for insurance purposes.

P.S. DS: I think you inadvertantly reversed the dimensions of this EGL stone stone (it is 7.62 x 7.5, but I understand your choice.
