I love the facet pattern of this AVR but I'm worried there's too much green on the perimeter of the ASET. Will this cause the stone to be darker on the edges and appear small? Or will performance still be outstanding?

For the AVR lovers, what does your ideal ASET look like?

I'm trying to find the biggest and whitest AVR with a budget of around $4000. I will not consider an M colour, I think I is as low as I'd like to go. I would like it as eye clean as possible, but a small inclusion anywhere but the table will probably not bother me too much. Is this stone an absolute no-no? http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10513/ I would set it in a platinum art deco bezel set halo. Not sure what the blue spot is at the edge of the table. It doesn't seem to come up on the ASET.

Thanks!

What did the megascope of the above stone look like? I use all the info. on AVRs and AVCs to make a decision they are mostly all beautiful stones.

Did you ask them if the I1 faces up eye clean?

You also might be able to get away with a white facing J in a platinum bezel setting because it is going to hide the tint of the stone which you will notice most side on unless you are really colour sensitive.

In cushions it comes down to preferred shape a nice cut and a O.K spread - in AVRs I think they cut 3 different versions so look at the cut pattern, the size of the table, the size of the flower petal pattern in the centre and see what is in your price range that is eye clean that your eye prefers.

Thanks Arkie :)

I forgot to link the diamond of the ASET: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11876/ I have no idea how to interpret a Megascope or DiamXray for that matter. Megascope seems to have a good result though? I'll ask if the I1 is eye clean.

Ok awesome I will consider a J in that case. I have seen J's in antique halo's in person, which appeared very yellow, but they were probably poorly graded and poorly cut. So they really were probably L/M in colour to AGS or GIA standard.

The new link is a beautiful stone. If in doubt ask GOG to take a quick side by side video of which ever stones you are considering (put them on hold so lurkers don't get them) and post the link to the video on here. I think if you are after super white the F is a stunning stone.

Both stones have outstanding light return. The DiamXray (similar to idealscope) is almost all red on the original stone you were asking about, showing no leakage. The Megascope scores are as high as they can be.

That F is gorgeous!!!!!!!!

+1 !!!

Gorgeous!!!!

FWIW I have an AVC from GOG- if you look at the ASET of an AVC there is more green than the one you posted. My diamond sparkles and twinkles and plays edge to edge, and honestly, the outer part does not appear 'less bright' than the middle, which is all red on the ASET . Not really trying to compare the two, but, just mentioning my (amateur!) observation :)-

No. Not too much green. Lovely stone.
