Admin, please move the thread to a more appropriate sub-forum as you see fit, thanks in advance.

Just wondering what is the average wait for a bench to re-set a stone where you live please, as I had a bit of a shock when I went into the local jeweller near work that has its own bench to have my EC re-set into a new semi-mount provided by me, to be quoted an estimated 3 weeks turnaround time, as they are still catching up with Christmas!

Good job I went in today and did not leave it any later, otherwise, the ring would not be ready in time for my 50th birthday celebrations at the beginning of February!

My local shop can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks for a reset, depending on the time of the year. It is surprising for a place out in the boonies. If I drive further away, the local shop only takes a few days to a week at best to set a stone.

Years ago I had our local jeweler reset my diamond into a new setting and they did it right in front of me in a relatively short period of time. I guess the question is not how long it actually takes them once they start to reset your stone but how long it takes them to get to your reset because of all their other projects. Good luck and happy 50th!

Last time I had a stone set when I provided my own setting was about a week. Week and a half.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I was surprised by the wait as it is a small town, and the shop never appeared to be busy at all whenever I visited them.

I suspect they carry out repairs for other jewellery shops that do not have a bench.

missy, thanks for your kind words in advance. :))
